Crowley Cupcakes

Peel off the patterned paper and prepare to enjoy fluffy, sweet and smooth goodness with sprinkles on top at Madison‘s Crowley Cupcakes.

Serving the community sweetly, Crowley Cupcakes churns out between 300 and 1,00 cupcakes daily…not to mention their other delectable desserts, including all-American cookie favorites, specialty breads, cinnamon rolls and brownies!

Inspired by owner Bridget Crowley’s love for baking, Crowley’s operates under the mantra: love and cupcakes are all you need.

“I felt I needed to keep it simple, something that I always loved. I took all the old fashioned recipes from all the different places I’ve made cakes from in the past,” Bridget said.

Crowley doesn’t have a culinary degree, but her shop’s success is an even greater demonstration of her skill and passion.

Beyond the Crowley’s kitchen, pulling up a seat to Bridget Crowley’s dinner table, she joked that her kids say dinner isn’t guaranteed, but dessert is always on the menu!

Paper Mill Playhouse Visionaries Gala

Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn hosted its largest fundraising event of the year, the “Visionaries Gala”, at the Hilton Short Hills#HipNJ’s Kelly Dillon chatted up the evening’s A-list attendees, including Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey, Kim Guadagno!

Over 400 of the community’s elite came out to this black-tie affair.  Guests enjoyed dinner, dancing, a silent auction and (of course!) Broadway entertainment, courtesy of Tony Award nominee Kate Baldwin and students from Paper Mill Playhouse’s Arts Education programs.

“I love the theatre, I love the arts, and I love how all these people are here to celebrate the Paper Mill and all the wonderful things they do,” said Governor Tom Kean, one of the night’s honorees.  Since becoming New Jersey’s 48th Governor, he has had a long-standing commitment to Paper Mill Playhouse and the arts in New Jersey.

Paper Mill also celebrated Mickey McNany with the Byrne/Kean Arts Advocate Award, in recognition of her retirement, 30 years of teaching and service to the community.

“It’s such a joy to watch the theatre school grow from eight children to over 500 that we have today, plus classes for children with special needs,” exclaimed Mickey.

“New Jersey has an incredibly thriving arts community,” boasted Mark S. Hoebee, producing artistic director for the Paper Mill.  “From Cape May all the way to the New York border, there are countless arts organizations, theaters, dance companies, museums.”

Famed actor Charles Shaughnessy (“The Nanny”), who recently completed a fantastic run of “Ever After” at the Paper Mill, reflected on his time living in #HipNJ!

“What’s not to like about New Jersey?  It’s a bit like Los Angeles; people give it a bad rap but it’s a really nice place!  I get the train every day from here to New York for rehersal, and I go through Maplewood and South Orange…it’s really beautiful!”

Tour of Carrino Provisions with HGTV’s Anthony Carrino

“The Cousins on Hip New Jersey” is sponsored by eLEND.

Old world charm collides with new world flavor at Jersey City‘s Carrino Provisions!

#HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino and HGTV’s “America’s Most Desperate Kitchens” co-star Anthony Carrino chatted about this wondrous Italian marketplace.

“We wanted to do a market for a long time, and when I met my business partners, [everything fell into place],” Anthony said.

His partners include co-star of #AMDK, his cousin John Colaneri; Dale Talde, of Top Chef fame; David Massoni and John Bush.  The team also owns Talde Jersey City, located right next door at 8 Erie Street.

Carrino Provisions offers a world of Italian delicacies (including the best olive oil you will ever have in your life!)  Their offerings include an Illy Coffee bar; 65 feet of market cases that contain the finest meat and cheeses, homemade pasta and desserts, and fresh seafood; an outdoor courtyard; and cafe.  That’s amore!

“Basically the idea here, is that you can come and eat with us, take food home that we made for you, or buy our ingredients and cook your favorites off our menu!”

As for the décor, Anthony said he and his #KitchenCousin adopted a “less is more” approach.

“Italian food packaging is light, airy and colorful.   We thought, the more stark we kept the shell, the better the colors would speak through the products.”

During the warm weather months, Carrino Provisions hosts an outdoor BBQ.  Every Tuesday from 6-10pm, Chef Talde takes over the courtyard and grills special surprise selections.  Your and your friends can enjoy this all-you-can-eat and drink fest for only $30/person!
