#HipNJ Women in Small Business: Augusta Mae

#HipNJ’s Kelly Dillon recently visited Augusta Mae boutique and fine consignment, located in downtown Cranford.  For a fashionista like Kelly, Augusta Mae was a trip to discount couture heaven!

Co-owners Kim Capece and Clara Nunziato take pride in offering customers a vast selection of fine clothing, jewelry, shoes, skin care and even home decor! They offer A-list designers such as GucciTori Burch, FendiLouis Vuitton and a host of others.

Kim and Clara also love giving back, and are very involved in the community.  They are proud to team with brands that have the same initiative, such as local designer Chavez for Charity and The Giving Keys.

The homey storefront- named after Kim and Clara’s grandmothers- plays host to various events and truck shows.  Augusta Mae is like being in a family member’s closet…only #Hip-per!

If you have a love for fashion and want the thrill of finding a bargain, Augusta Mae is sure to inspire you.  For more information, please visit their website.

Austrian Airlines is Flying Nonstop Into EWR!

Austrian Airlines flying into Vienna out of Newark Liberty International Airport, and #HipNJ was on hand for her maiden landing!

Before toasting the jet, #HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino relaxed in the new Lufthansa Senator and Business Lounge.  Guests dined on complimentary gourmet food and enjoyed premium cocktails while waiting for their flights.  With the space’s comfortable seating, Wi-Fi access, spacious bathrooms and more, loungers almost wish for travel delays!

While in the Business Lounge, Lisa Marie gauged the excitement about this new Vienna-Newark connection from Austria’s VIPs, including Austrian Consulate General, Georg Heindl:  “Having the flight will help strengthen the ties between Austria and this part of the United States even further!”

Once the smiling Austrian Airlines crew deemed their plane camera ready, our #HipNJ crew toured the refurbished 767.  We were very impressed; Austrian Airlines’ Business Class has totally raised the bar for the air travel industry!  Its 38 seats fully recline and come equipped with a built-in massager.  Each passenger gets their own 15-inch video screen, and an on-board chef prepares meals to their individual specifications.  Economy seating also got a shiny makeover, with new  ergonomically designed seats and large video displays.

While in the cockpit, we chatted with the jet’s pilot, Captain Helmut Haubenwaller, about why #HipNJ‘ers need to book a flight to Vienna. “Austria is one of the most beautiful countries in the world,” Captain proclaimed.  ” We have the Alps, we’ve got very nice cities, and now you can fly there in the best way possible.”

Our tour concluded with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Thomas Scharfenberger, Lufthansa’s Northeastern USA Regional Director of Sales, and Rich Heslin, Newark Airport General Manager.

Said Rich: “Austrians have a lot to gain by traveling to the Garden State.  There’s a lot of opportunity here, and so much to do!”

Dan Marino at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza Wayne Grand Opening

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza has a new location in the Garden State, and #HipNJ was at their grand opening with NFL Hall-of-Fame quarterback, Dan Marino!

Dan- a partner in the very successful restaurant chain- met with legions of his New Jersey fans while graciously posing for pictures and signing autographs in the sweltering Wayne heat.  Afterwards, happy customers devoured Anthony’s “well done” pizza, tasty meatballs and one-of-a-kind buffalo wings!

#HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino chatted with Dan and the important people that have brought this South Florida concept to- in our humble opinion- the pizza capital of the world!

“I love pizza, and I didn’t like the pizza in Florida,” explained Anthony’s Founder/CEO (and New York native), Anthony Bruno. “We opened up one of these in 2002 and did very well, so we decided to be the only ones to bring Florida pizza to Jersey.”

“Up here, you have a real legacy of good pizza, good Italian food.  So for us to come up here in “the belly of the beast” and do well says a lot about the brand,” added Anthony’s Chief Marketing Officer, Nicholas Castaldo.

What sets Anthony’s a part from all the other restaurant chains (besides its fresh ingredients and authentic recipes!) is the genuine support of its A-list partner.

“A lot of celebrities that  get involved in restaurants do nothing more than rent their name…but he’s a true believer.  He loves the food.  He eats there, his family eats there.  He loves the whole thing,” said Castaldo.

Controlling the enthusiastic crowd on July 23rd was the “leader” of New Jersey’s Miami Dolphins constituency, “Miami Mike” Minervini.

“Being next to Dan and celebrating today’s signing and the great new restaurant has been a blast,” exclaimed “Miami Mike”, who owns Miami Mikes Sports Zone in East Hanover.

Dan himself summed up the day best: “We had a lot of fun here in Wayne…it was great food, good people, and that’s all that matters!”
