Runway of Dreams and Tommy Hilfiger’s Adaptive Movement

Tommy Hilfiger has partnered with Runway of Dreams to create a special collection addressing the challenges the differently-abled community faces each day when getting dressed, and #HipNJ wants to tell you all about it!

According to their official website, the Runway of Dreams Foundation was founded in 2014 by Mindy Scheier. Scheier was a fashion designer and mother of a child with a disability. Her son Oliver, who has a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy, wanted to wear jeans to school like his friends. She realized that millions of people around the world were also struggling to access fashionable clothing that meets their needs, and envisioned a world where adaptive clothing for people with disabilities was mainstream.

After spending 20 years in the fashion industry and opening a design school for kids, Mindy decided to combine her experience and her passion by creating the Runway of Dreams Foundation, a nonprofit that works toward a future of inclusion, acceptance and opportunity in the fashion industry for people with disabilities.

The collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger features clothes for men, women and children. Magnetic buttons, one-handed zippers, and adjustable hems are only a few of the features that can be found. To shop the collection, click here.
