Author Joan Ramirez

Author Joan Ramirez sat down with Lisa Marie Latino in the #HipNJ studio to discuss two of her books, Let It Go, Let It Flow Leadership and Jamie Is Autistic: Learning In a Special Way

Although the topics of the two books are most definitely different, both are equally as important to Ramirez.

First, she discusses Let It go, Let It Flow Leadership.  Ramirez stresses the importance of building a path to leadership immediately after college and explains that her book is a useful tool in doing so! Her books shares perspectives from, “people from all walks of life” and she believes this difference in opinion gives readers a holistic approach to becoming a professional leader!

Next, Ramirez discusses how her work with autistic children inspired her to write Jamie Is Autistic: Learning In a Special Way.  Ramirez shares a touching moment with the girl her book is based upon, “Mrs. Ramirez, I want you to tell other children that it is important to understand more about autistic children, that they’re special.”

Ramirez didn’t stop there! She wanted the reach of both her books to extend to help as many people as possible, so she asked the White House for help. Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle wrote back and added both Ramirez’s books to the White House’s Press Office!

Ramirez goes on to explain that her and her husband, who helped in the in the wreckage on September 11th,  found themselves at a crossroads.  She found that inspiring people through writing helped her find her way again!

International Children’s Book Day

Happy International Children’s Book Day! International Children’s Book Day was created to inspire and encourage children to pick up a book and read.

Nowadays, children are more focused on what is going on online so today is the perfect opportunity to unplug them from their devices and give them a book.

There are a handful of authors from New Jersey so hand your child a book from a New Jersey author. Some notable children’s authors from New Jersey are Judy Blume, Lauren T. Barnes, Robert J. Blake and Daryl Cobb.

Happy International Children’s Book Day! Enjoy reading today and everyday.
