Jersey Boys #HipNJ Premiere!

For over a decade, Jersey Boys has dazzled audiences all over the world with the sweet sounds of Newark natives Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons…but never in #HipNJ! That’s about to change, thanks to New Brunswick’s State Theatre New Jersey.

FINALLY, for the first time ever, the Broadway smash hit will be making its Garden State debut on Friday, October 13 at 8PM! Other dates include Saturday, October 14 at 2pm and 8pm and Sunday, October 15 at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets range from $35-$98.

Jersey Boys is the 2006 Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier Award®-winning Best Musical about Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi. This is the true story of how four blue-collar kids became one of the greatest successes in pop music history. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds, and sold 175 million records worldwide—all before they were 30! Jersey Boys features their hit songs “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll,” “Oh What a Night,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”

The Jersey Boys creative team includes two-time Tony Award®-winning director Des McAnuff, book writers Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, composer Bob Gaudio, lyricist Bob Crewe, and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.

Bruce Springsteen is Coming to Broadway

The Boss is making his way to Broadway, and #HipNJ has the scoop!

According to New York Post, Springsteen will be playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre for an eight-week run in the fall.

Sources say that Springsteen will do a pared-down version of the set he usually performs in arenas and stadiums all over the world.

Some insiders think that this  may be a curtain raiser to turning his best-selling memoir, “Born To Run,” into a musical.

Dates have not yet been finalized, but Springsteen will likely open in November, performing five times a week.

#HipNJ will be sure to keep you updated as new details emerge!

Exit 82 Theater Company Presents “Rock of Ages”

#HipNJ, be prepared to rock!

Rock of Ages came off Broadway this past winter and landed right in Toms River, NJ at Exit 82 Theater Company!  This was the show’s very first off-Broadway production in the country.

“The show is an explosion of 80’s rock music, set to a not-so-deep plot to introduce non-theatre goers to the experience,” said “Rock of Ages” music director and Strand Theatre’s producing artistic director, Anthony D’Amato.

From the performers to the audience, D’Amato said everyone has a blast.

“There’s 15 or so performers on stage who love each other and are just having a blast…and it shows,” D’Amato said.

Co-founder of Exit 82 and executive director and producer of “Rock of Ages”, Keely Davenport, said “Rock of Ages” was Exit 82’s best performance yet!

“It was a bigger show all the way around so bigger budget, bigger sound, better talent,” Davenport explained.

As for the theater company, Exit 82 is in their seventh season and on their eleventh production. Exit 82 is committed to producing up to three huge productions a year at their new home: Strand Theatre, according to Davenport.

“We all band together and put on this amazing show so it’s an incredible collaborative group of people,” Davenport said.

Davenport mentioned that this theater group is all volunteer, saying they call themselves a family.

For one rockin’ theater experience you know what exit to take.
