Embracing Hope: The 12th Annual Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation Gala

Earlier this month The Grove in Cedar Grove, NJ had the distinct honor of hosting the Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation‘s 12th annual Gala. The annual gala has been a staple for the foundations for years, but this year there is more to celebrate than usual with the opening of the new Connie Dwyer Breast Center at Trinitas Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ.

Many were in attendance at the Gala, eager to donate to the cause via raffle, auction, or any other means – anything to show support for the wonderful foundation, and the woman at the forefront, Connie Dwyer herself.

The Vice President of Trinitas, Nadine Brechner, expressed nothing but love and admiration for the cause when interviewed by our very own Maria Falzo, saying “the Connie Dwyer foundation has the most amazing people that are committed to helping people less fortunate than themselves.”

Attendees included members of the staff and board of Trinitas Medical Center, members of Connie Dwyer Breast Center, the Vice President of Neiman Marcus, Connie Dwyer’s three daughters Becky, Maureen, and Susan – and countless friends, family, and various others who believe in the foundations mission of maintaining breast health and treating breast cancer, no matter your wealth or background.

The Connie Dwyer Breast Center

Meet the NEW Connie Dwyer Breast Center

November 1st not only marked the beginning of the Holiday season (too soon?), but for many families affected by breast cancer, the real gift is knowing that November 1st also marked the beginning of an important fundraising campaign that will bring the Connie Dwyer Breast Center, a state-of-the-art breast health facility sponsored by the Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation, to the Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ.

During each Tuesday in November, there will be pop-up party locations staged at Bloomingdale’s Short Hills. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in different activities for varying amounts of donation. With a minimum donation of $1, visitors will be gifted with Smarties® candy. For a donation of $5, attendees will receive goodies and/or gift cards from partnering brands and businesses, while supplies last. For $10 or more, participants will be entered-to-win a gift from Bloomingdale’s Short Hills.  Anyone who visits the pop-up location will be encouraged to partake in an interactive photo booth that will tie directly to the Trinitas social media awareness campaign running online.

The campaign will conclude on the national day #GivingTuesday, November 28. On that day, there will be a live Facebook event hosted by New York Giants legend Ottis Anderson and other guests that will encourage viewers to donate funds through the Trinitas Health Foundation website portal.

Donations to the campaign will be collected all month long, and every bit counts – Donate today! And for more information about the Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation, visit CDBF.org.

Gary S. Horan Emergency Department

Introducing the Gary S. Horan Emergency Department

Last November, #HipNJ embarked on a special “Giving Tuesday” campaign to raise money and awareness for Trinitas Regional Medical Center‘s Emergency Department expansion. Ten months later, we are proud to unveil the brand new, $18.7 million Gary S. Horan Emergency Department!

On September 12th, #HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino attended the ED’s dedication ceremony. The rooftop gala was attended by the hospital’s generous supporters and compassionate staff members that were so instrumental in helping raise funds for this much-needed expansion. Notable attendees included Elizabeth Mayor J. Christian Bollwage, Union County Sheriff Joseph Cryan, and Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth and Vice Chair, Trinitas Sister Rosemary Moynihan.

“Today really is a milestone that we have finished our Emergency Department. One-hundred percent has funded by donors, and we’re very thankful to each and every one of them for doing so much for us,” said Nadine Brechner, Vice President, Chief Development Officer at Trinitas Regional Medical Center.

The 24,000 square foot Emergency Department expansion raises the number of treatment beds from 27 to 45, and provides separate treatment areas where the most appropriate care can be given to seniors, families and behavioral patients. The department is outfitted in the latest medical technology, including a 128-slice CT scanner that can produce diagnostic scans in seconds.
