HOBOKEN GIRL HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL HOBOKEN WELLNESS CRAWL

HobokenGirl.com, the Hudson County website centered on all things Hoboken and Jersey City, is celebrating health and wellness in Hoboken with their 2nd Annual Hoboken Wellness Crawl.

The Hoboken Wellness Crawl will occur on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M throughout Hoboken with over 80 businesses participating. $1 from every ticket sold is being donated to The Water Project, a charity focused on supplying clean drinking water for communities around the world. Last year the event drew in over 600 people, and more are expected this year.

“We’re so excited to be celebrating our 2nd annual event — and supporting local health and wellness businesses in the process. It’s an amazing thing to be able to walk around one square mile and visit all of these local businesses devoted to making us healthier and happier,” says founder Jennifer Casson Tripucka. “This year, hosting the crawl on Earth Day, we chose our charity of choice to be The Water Project, as it is committed to helping communities in need of clean drinking water around the world.”

Over 70 Hudson County businesses are participating.

Tickets are available online here — and on crawl day can be presented at four designated check-in spots around Hoboken – Uptown (Fit Foundry – 1416 Willow Avenue), Downtown (Birch – 92 River Street), West (The Spine and Sports Health Center at the Monroe Center – 720 Monroe Street), and CarePoint Health (109 Grand Street).

Those Wanting a “Sleep Divorce” is on the Rise in New Jersey

Sleep Divorce, a phenomenon where married persons remain together but chooses to slumber separately, is on the rise amongst couples nationwide. A national survey conducted by Mattress Clarity, a sleep product review website, asked couples ranging from ages 18 – 65+ if they would opt for a sleep divorce and #HipNJ is here to give you a breakdown of this amusing study.

In our own great state, a whopping 38% of New Jersey men would like to file for a sleep divorce from their partners while only 23% of women feel the same (statewide average of 30.9%). The most commonly cited reason for wanting a separate sleeping space was the difference in sleep schedules followed by sleep disorders (such as snoring), partners that are disruptive while sleeping, different sleeping habits and having a bed that it simply too small.

So why is sleeping separately from a partner considered so taboo? The same survey revealed that bad co-sleeping has ended a relationship for one in 10 Americans! That staggering number is too glaring to ignore especially considering the fact that many couples admit to fighting over things such as sleep habits and sleeping with pets.

Although 41.4% of Americans who sleep separately would hesitate to tell friends and family, many admit to a positive change in the relationship after their “divorce”. The irrational fear of judgement from others in due to the established social norms of our society but Joe Auer of Mattress Clarity thinks that will change:

“If sharing a bed with your other half is leaving you tired and grumpy, why not consider a sleep divorce? Over a quarter of Americans have actually said that sleeping apart has improved their relationship.”

No matter your sleep preferences, #HipNJ wants to expose couples to the reality that they are not alone in their sleep preferences! CareOne Celebrates the Grand Opening of Harmony Village at Paramus

CareOne hosted a lavish grand opening celebration welcoming Harmony Village at Paramus to #HipNJ!

Hundreds of guests packed the pristine space, which is the first of its kind in Bergen County 100% dedicated to memory loss.

“I waited for this place to open,” said Arlene Madaio, who has a family member being treated at Harmony Village. “I looked at every other place in Bergen County, but this one was it. When you have a memory impaired parent, you need a dedicated space that provides compassionate, dedicated care.”

CareOne chairman and CEO Daniel E. Straus cut the red ribbon alongside CareOne executive vice president, Elizabeth Straus, New Jersey Senator Robert M. Gordon and members of the NFL Alumni, including NFLA president Bart Oates, New York Giants Super Bowl champions Ottis Anderson and Howard Cross, and former New York Jets star Tony Richardson.

Guests enjoyed a lavish cocktail hour party and open bar while touring the space, which boasts modern yet comfortable amenities. On location is also a spa and wellness center to pamper patients and promote positivity. During the warm weather months, guests can enjoy time out at the resort-like outdoor lounge.

“CareOne strives to always push the bar of healthcare in the state of New Jersey, and we take pride in the level of care we deliver to our patients and their families,” explained Daniel E. Straus.
