NJ Brain Injury Alliance

Becky Quick’s Support of the NJ Brain Alliance is Personal

Becky Quick, co-anchor of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” talks about her work with the Brain Injury Alliance of NJ with Steve Adubato on “One-on-One.”

“This is my pet charity,” explains Becky. “The work they do is so important for families who have a loved one affected by brain injury.”

When Becky was a student at Rutgers University, her 12-year-old brother Brian was hit by a car while riding his bike and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Brian is still living with the effects of the injury today.

The Brain Injury Alliance of NJ not only promotes preventative measures on how you can protect yourself and your loved ones from brain injury, but they also help  those who have been impacted.

Slurp, Sip, Repeat Ramen Eating Contest

By Kenneth Barilari

28 contestants took part in the first Ani Ramen Slurp, Sip, Repeat Ramen Eating Contest. The competition, which took place at Ani Ramen in Montclair, pit participants against each other to see who could eat the most ramen in 15 minutes.

Contestants came prepared with their own competitive eating method. Some stood, some sat, and one even chose a fork over chopsticks. One contestant, Dexter, came suited up warrior style for the event.

Voltarelli finished a very impressive 9.25 bowls of ramen in 15 minutes.  A real estate professional at the Voltarelli Organization, he has never competed in an organized food competition before.

“We were thrilled at the turnout and the enthusiasm at our first Slurp, Sip, Repeat Ramen Eating Competition.  It was a fun, exciting event and we were so happy to have such a great group of competitors.  We hope the event will continue to grow and look forward to doing it again next year,” Ani Ramen Owner said.

Best of all, a total of $500 was raised via entry fees at the competition for Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless (MESH).
