CareOne, a premier family-owned healthcare company with more than 32 centers in New Jersey, is rallying the community on Sunday, September 24 to support residents currently displaced or gravely impacted by the recent hurricanes that have made landfall in the U.S. and the Caribbean.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. in Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park the CareOne 4th Annual 5K will welcome registrants of all ages to participate.

Now in its fourth consecutive year, the CareOne Annual 5K is part of the company’s ongoing and far-reaching philanthropic efforts. As such, 100 percent of the day’s proceeds will be donated to Best Friends Animal Society, Americares and Goodwill for their hurricane relief efforts.

With the recent devastation and destruction in Texas, the southeast United States and the Caribbean, CareOne as a company, and the Straus family, are using this annual event as a way to bring a little light to residents and business owners in Texas, Florida and the Caribbean who are unable to see anything but darkness during this very difficult time. Just as CareOne rallied its employees, staff and community in the days and months following Superstorm Sandy, the company is again looking to support those in need with this annual race.

Registration information for the CareOne 4th Annual 5K is currently available via the CareOne website. Same-day registration will also be made available to participants starting at 7 a.m.

#HipNJ Helps Houston

By now, you have seen the heartbreaking devastation Hurricane Harvey left in Texas. According to the National Weather Service, Harvey has set a record for total rainfall from a single tropical cyclone in the continental United States– a mind-blowing 48 inches has fallen so far, with more to come.

Here in New Jersey, there are many ways to help our brothers and sisters across the country. Here are a few ways to get involved with some kind-hearted Garden State initiatives:

Adopt a Pet

We’ve gotten word that everyone’s boarded and Wings of Rescue is in the air with the dogs from City of San Antonio Animal Care Services headed to NJ! We’re ready to welcome them this evening when they land at Morristown and will update later. We will continue to work with The Humane Society of the United States to support Texas in the days, weeks and months to come. The dogs being relocated were in shelters awaiting adoption prior to the disaster–moving them north to the adoption programs of St. Hubert’s and our WayStation destination partners for adoption increases capacity in Texas for sheltering pets directly impacted by the storm, helping to keep families together.
