Bobbi Brown Opens The George Inn

Makeup mogul Bobbi Brown is opening The George Inn with her husband, Steven Plofker. #HipNJ has the scoop on the boutique hotel in the heart of Montclair.

The couple transformed a once forgotten Georgian Inn into a 32-room design-minded hotel. Brown spoke with Vogue earlier this month, calling Montclair “the Brooklyn of New Jersey,” making it the perfect location for their latest business venture.

Each room was specifically designed to feel different from the rest while maintaining a sophisticated and chic style. The vision for the project was to create a hotel that is welcoming, comfortable, interesting and ever-evolving, and the couple is excited to offer guests a unique and exciting experience.

The hotel is expected to open in the spring. For more information, click here.

Freeholders Honor “Dress For Success” At New Madison Headquarters

Dress for Success Northern New Jersey – 10 Counties celebrated its move to a newly refurbished space with a special ribbon cutting after being evacuated from their headquarters earlier this year due to a fire.

DFS of Northern New Jersey is a chapter of a national nonprofit organization that focuses on offering long-lasting solutions to enable disadvantaged women to break the cycle of poverty and to help them achieve economic stability. They serve more than 1,400 women in Morris County and surrounding counties.

Earlier this year, a fire ravaged its operation in Madison, hampering the efforts of this group to help the many woman who call on its services.

“Dress for Success is continuing its life-changing work for women who need a leg up to succeed professionally and personally,’’ said Morris County Freeholder Deborah Smith, who attended the re-opening ceremony. “Their work has real impact in important ways, by making a difference in women’s lives and the lives of those around them.”

Andy Garcia on College Hunks Hauling Junk

Andy Garcia, owner of College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving of North Jersey, sat with Lisa Marie Latino in the #HipNJ studio to discuss the moving and junk removal company.

“The business itself was around for seven or eight years,” Garcia says. “My father and I were looking for a new opportunity to broaden our entrepreneurial experience.” They saw a strong opportunity, and took it.

“We’re able to bounce ideas off of each other,” Garcia says of working with his father. “In a business relationship, you have to embrace conflict.”

College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving offers full-service residential and commercial moving, junk removal, donation pickups, and moving labor services across the United States.
