#HipNJ’s Best Of 2017

What a year it has been for #HipNJ! Let’s take a strip down memory lane as we look back at our Instagram Best 9

Each of the photos seen above bring back 2017 memories. This year has been full of excitement, and these are just a few examples of the experiences and moments we will cherish.

A stormy #HipNJ Saturday gave way to a flawless, fall-like evening. 🌙

This photo, taken at Liberty State Park, serves as a reminder that New Jersey is a beautiful state. It offers scenic views and tranquility, whether it be July or October.

This was a #HipNJ moment to remember! Our own Lisa Marie Latino and Maria Falzo were featured on Life & Living with Joanna Gagis. The duo discussed their inspiration for the site. Check out the segment here.

This is a photo from  Komen’s Race for the Cure! Komen North Jersey put on this inspiring event, featuring survivors, fighters, supporters, volunteers and friends. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful cause, and #HipNJ was proud to be there.

This is a snap from CareOne’s 200 Wishes fundraiser at the Prudential Center. CareOne and Make-A-Wish turned the Prudential Center into a life-size Candy Land for a day full of family fun.

Newark welcomed  Ono Grinds Poké to the neighborhood, one of the many reasons this is a #HipNJ city to watch in 2018. Newark is experiencing an influx of hip spots, and this Hawaiian-inspired poké bowl shop is no exception.

Garden State fashion expert Dawn Del Russo stopped by the #HipNJ studio to model three looks. She was one of the many notable guests that made their way to our studio this year, including Danielle Forte of 828 Clothing and Vic DiBitetto.

The W. Cary Edwards Education Foundation‘s  annual Touchdown on Education was at MetLife Stadium. The day of family fun and football raised $100,000.

Boo! This was a very #HipHalloween, as we featured Halloween experts from around the Garden State. For this picture, our very own Kelly was turned into a creepy clown thanks to Dena Ziemba.

Last but not least, we shared this quote about giving. #HipNJ Cares is a huge part of what we do, as we work with various charities to support some phenomenal causes. For example, this year we partnered with The Connie Dwyer Breast CenterTrinitas Regional Medical Center, CareOne and more.

This was quite a year, and we cannot wait to see what 2018 brings.

Private room at Porter Collins

#HipNJ visited new Hoboken hot spot Porter Collins, and it’s THE place to see and be seen! The restaurant’s eye-catching decor, while a mix of comfort and luxury, rivals any Manhattan or South Beach establishment!

After we were whisked to Porter Collins’ beautifully designed private room, we started the night by ordering their Crispy Oysters with saffron remoulade and dill pickles. We were also treated to their Classic Caesar salad with traditional table side preparation!

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates Movie Review

By Kaitlin Anilonis

Last Wednesday, Bow Tie Cinemas in Hoboken, NJ hosted an advanced free screening of the upcoming movie, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates starring Zac Efron, Adam Devine, Anna Kendrick, and Aubrey Plaza. Bow Tie showed the film to a fully packed theater and held a social media contest to win gift cards for the cinema.

If you have not already heard of one of the summer’s most anticipated movies, here’s your official scoop. The movie opens with montage of brothers, Mike and Dave, ruining the various family events that they have attended over the last couple of years. Their dad tries to prevent this from happening at their sister’s upcoming wedding by telling the brothers that they need to bring dates. Mike and Dave place an ad online to try to find respectable, nice girls to take to the wedding. However, the girls they end up finding are even crazier than they are. Mike and Dave now need to try to tame the uncontrollable duo while trying not to ruin their little sister’s special day.

The movie is loosely based on the true story of a Craigslist ad placed by real-life brothers, Mike and Dave Stangle, searching for wedding dates.  The movie overall could have absolutely been corny and overdone. Luckily, director Jake Szymanski took the plot in a different direction. While similar to previous raunchy wedding hits like Wedding Crashers or Bridesmaids, Mike and Dave strikes a younger crowd. The wide range of characters keep the movie from getting boring or dragging on. Overall, the movie was funny and a great summer hit, making it the perfect movie for a date night!
