On September 17th, Neiman Marcus Short Hills hosted a fashion show and personal appearance for Mark Badgley and James Mischka’s brand, the iconic Badgley Mischka.
The showcase consisted of their Fall 2019 collection of bridesmaid gowns, mother-of-the-bride dresses, and additional attire including their line of Badgley Mischka Shoes. This collection was inspired by Mercedes Benz cars of the 1950’s, which was evident by the pieces’ intricate chrome detailing and color palate that included charcoal, dusty blush and forest green.
The duo, celebrating their 30th anniversary in business, are especially passionate about their women’s tailored suits.
“You really haven’t seen a suit in a women’s wardrobe in a while,” explained Mark Badgley. “We’ve added a lot of tailored elements to our gowns this season.”
At the show, attendees got to wine and dine with the designers, shop and get styled. Mischka, a native of Skillman, New Jersey, was glad to be back in his home state and be able to showcase his work that is influenced by both West and East coast fashion. (He even squeezed in some time at his 40th high school reunion!)
“We’re always back-and-forth between Beverly Hills and New York City, and we are in New Jersey quite often,” explained James Mischka. “It’s good to be home especially here at Neiman Marcus, which has been our partner since the beginning.”
Pulling inspiration from some of their favorites such as day and evening wear, cocktail and basic dresses, and even sculpted scuba dresses, their creativity and eye towards the trends gets better with every collection. These designers are focused on making clothing that make women feel empowered, but still having a sense of modern couture at the same time!
