The Property Brothers Welcome Cost Plus World Market

Cost Plus World Market has opened its first store in the Northeast, and they chose to debut in #HipNJ!

The Livingston flagship recently celebrated a monster grand opening that was headlined by celebrity guests, HGTV’s “Property Brothers”.

#HipNJ’s Sam Selvaggio spoke to the guests of honor, Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott, as well as the excited attendees about this great event.

“Its been a heck of a turnout,” said Larry Amos, District Manager of Cost Plus World Market.  “The community has really supported us, much better than I think we’ve even expected.”

“I think the store is absolutely beautiful.  The amount of product is amazing,” said one World Market customer, Annie Sarel.

Cost Plus World Market has been an American staple since 1958, when the first location opened in San Francisco’s famed Fisherman’s Wharf.  The store has unique finds for the home, from stylish furniture and neat room accents, to gourmet food and kitchen needs.  You can even find clothing and jewelry!

Cost Plus World Market’s homey yet motivating vibe is a perfect compliment to The Property Brothers’ brand, which was why they were so happy to help cut the red ribbon!

“We are happy to be in New Jersey, speak with our fans and help out a good cause,” Jonathan Scott said.  (The brothers were collecting nonperishable food to donate to local food banks).

The duo also couldn’t wait to meet our #HipNJ crew!

“I knew you were coming, so I had to look hip,” Drew Scott quipped.

“Where should we go in New Jersey when we leave here?” Jonathan added.  (We made sure he bookmarked us for the next time he’s in town!)

Cost Plus World Market is located at 530 W Mt Pleasant Ave in LivingstonNJ 07039.  For more information, please visit their website.

#HipNJ Women in Small Business: Cheese… Please!

Modeled after the cheese shops of Europe, Cheese… Please! in Cranford gives foodies an array of high quality cheeses to choose from, right in our own #HipNJ backyard!

#HipNJ’s Kelly Dillon took a tour of Cheese… Please! and chatted with owner Maria Tisdall about operating such a delicious business.

“We only order cheese by the full wheel, and we hand-cut and wrap everything in the case to preserve freshness,” explained Maria.  “We also specialize in sourcing cheeses from local cheese makers in New Jersey and New York.”

Among the 100s of Cheese… Please! products, the best sellers include the Prima Donna,  a cheese that is delightful with any accent or drink!

In addition to being the go-to shop for this dairy delight, Cheese… Please! serves up gourmet sandwiches and soups.  They are also available to cater parties and events, and are featured at farmers markets around the area.

Dan Marino at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza Wayne Grand Opening

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza has a new location in the Garden State, and #HipNJ was at their grand opening with NFL Hall-of-Fame quarterback, Dan Marino!

Dan- a partner in the very successful restaurant chain- met with legions of his New Jersey fans while graciously posing for pictures and signing autographs in the sweltering Wayne heat.  Afterwards, happy customers devoured Anthony’s “well done” pizza, tasty meatballs and one-of-a-kind buffalo wings!

#HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino chatted with Dan and the important people that have brought this South Florida concept to- in our humble opinion- the pizza capital of the world!

“I love pizza, and I didn’t like the pizza in Florida,” explained Anthony’s Founder/CEO (and New York native), Anthony Bruno. “We opened up one of these in 2002 and did very well, so we decided to be the only ones to bring Florida pizza to Jersey.”

“Up here, you have a real legacy of good pizza, good Italian food.  So for us to come up here in “the belly of the beast” and do well says a lot about the brand,” added Anthony’s Chief Marketing Officer, Nicholas Castaldo.

What sets Anthony’s a part from all the other restaurant chains (besides its fresh ingredients and authentic recipes!) is the genuine support of its A-list partner.

“A lot of celebrities that  get involved in restaurants do nothing more than rent their name…but he’s a true believer.  He loves the food.  He eats there, his family eats there.  He loves the whole thing,” said Castaldo.

Controlling the enthusiastic crowd on July 23rd was the “leader” of New Jersey’s Miami Dolphins constituency, “Miami Mike” Minervini.

“Being next to Dan and celebrating today’s signing and the great new restaurant has been a blast,” exclaimed “Miami Mike”, who owns Miami Mikes Sports Zone in East Hanover.

Dan himself summed up the day best: “We had a lot of fun here in Wayne…it was great food, good people, and that’s all that matters!”
