The Cousins and Talde Jersey City

“The Cousins on Hip New Jersey” is sponsored by eLEND.

#HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino sat at a table for four at Talde Jersey City, an Asian-American restaurant with one hip secret. Joined by some of the restaurant partners- Dale TaldeAnthony Carrinoand David Massoni Lisa Marie got the inside scoop on this trendy eatery.

Talde JC is one of six hotspots commissioned by The Three Kings Restaurant Group, owned and operated by David, Dale & John Bush. The trio joined forces with Anthony and John Colaneri of HGTV’s “America’s Most Desperate Kitchens” to bring a new flavor into The Cousins‘ beloved Garden State!  (Also check out their other joint, Carrino Provisions).

While Anthony and John were the creativity behind the atmosphere, Dale’s Filipino roots allowed the entire concept to come to life.

“We wanted to put food that was inspired from how and where I grew up,” Dale, of Top Chef and Chopped fame, said. “We’re just trying to have fun and put great food, great atmosphere, great design, great drinks and great service together.”

As for the décor, Anthony said the industrial style of the building, the fusion of Asian and American cultures, and Dale’s overall flavor were all tools in the construction.

“I understand family pride and I understand the passion that goes into it, so for me I wanted to play off of his food,” Anthony explained.

When the steamy plates are placed on the table, they are served with an aura of sharing, much like the potluck styled meals Dale is accustomed to. The partners said sometimes the waiters can’t keep up with the pace of customer orders, not just placed for themselves, but for the table!

“It makes for a party for almost every dining experience that’s happening here!” David explained.

Now that you know about the above-ground Talde JC experience, we’ll let you in on their big secret: Miss Wong’s. It’s a speakeasy bar located downstairs, perfect for before or after dinner cocktails. Pass us a few over here!

HGTV’s “America’s Most Desperate Kitchens” Premiere Party

“The Cousins on Hip New Jersey” is sponsored by eLEND.

“We’re coming America!”

Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri aka The Cousins of HGTV celebrated the premiere party of their latest series “America’s Most Desperate Kitchens” at one of their two Jersey City restaurants, Carrino Provisions.

Surrounded by friends, family, designers from the industry and other HGTV stars, The Cousins said sharing the first few episodes of AMDK with this group was a great feeling.

“It just feels great to be surrounded by that many people you love and that many people you respect,” Anthony Carrino said.

Although #AMDK takes them around the nation, Anthony and John flaunted their Jersey pride during the celebration.

“We’ve grown up here all our lives so for us to interact specifically with New Jersey fans—that means a lot to me and I know it means a lot to Anthony,” John Colaneri said.

Other HGTV stars expressed excitement for The Cousins. “Property Brothers” Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott boasted about The Cousins’ work, how they support each other’s shows. and essentially the brotherhood they share.

“I have no problem if someone comes in and says ‘Hmm do I have to pick between “The Cousins” or “The Brothers”…if I had to lose to somebody it would be these guys,” Jonathan Scott said.

David Massoni, a partner of Carrino Provisions and Talde JC, was also on the scene supporting The Cousins.

Don’t forget to tune into “America’s Most Desperate Kitchens” every Wednesday this summer at 8pm on HGTV!

CareOne of Hanover Township’s Third Anniversary Bash with RHONJ’s Kathy Wakile

On Thursday, June 11th, CareOne at Hanover Township celebrated their third anniversary with over 150 guests!

#HipNJ’s Kelly Dillon spoke with the night’s keynote guests, “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Kathy Wakile and her mother, Maria Pierri.  The duo gave a cannoli filling demonstration featuring product from her Indulge line, which includes desserts, specialty coffees, and more.

The mother-daughter team talked about the importance of satisfying your sweet tooth with real desserts through portion control. In Kathy’s cannoli kits, each serving is satisfying and under 100 calories (despite accents of pistachios, chocolate chips, Oreos and sprinkles!) Following the demonstration, Kathy signed copies of her book and took photos with fans.

Besides getting to know their favorite “Housewife”, attendees were treated to the finest music, food, wine, and more!

Upon entry, everyone was greeted with champagne and strawberries.  The Italian-themed fare was catered by Calabria of Livingston, who provided imported cheeses and prosciutto, garlic shrimp, fresh pastries, and more.  Wine tasting was offered by Cambridge Wines, who offered an exquisite selection of their reds and whites to try.  The salted caramel samplings by Enjou of Morristown were a fan favorite, along with their milk chocolate “3” favors.

“We are so happy about the turnout,” gushed Shirley Cabildo, a CareOne at Hanover Township Administrator.  “The support of the community is overwhelming, and it’s nice to see how they want us to succeed!”

At CareOne at Hanover Township, their compassionate, professional staff provides post-surgical care and nursing services. You’ll rest easy knowing that you or your loved ones are receiving round-the-clock care in a comfortable and supportive setting.  The facility is one of 29 throughout the Garden State, and treats over 20,000 patients each year.
