Cindy is born and raised a Jersey Girl and proud of it! The “Mornings with Cubby and Cindy”co-host’s contagious and vivacious personality is as real as it gets, and it’s on display in this special “Toast for the Town” segment.
HipNJ’sLisa Marie Latino got to experience the perfect day in Cindy’s cozy town of Hawthorne. Cindy took us to Well Read, a bookstore that is not only a hot spot for avid readers, but highlights the works of local authors.
Giving us more of a reason to love this quaint town is the Cuban Flavor Café, one of Cindy’s favorite Hawthorne haunts. Cindy and Lisa Marie dined on the restaurant’s signature dishes and sipped sangria as they talked about Cindy’s rise to the top!
We finished off the segment walking Cindy’s three rescue dogs at one of Hawthorne’s beautiful parks. While there, we learned more about Cindy’s big heart. She has made countless appearances and been a part of many charitable events in between training three rescue dogs to call her own. She works especially close with the Lustgarten Foundation, raising awareness for pancreatic cancer. To top it all off, Cindy hosts a show Sunday mornings at 6 called “KTU Cares”, where she interviews local celebrities and hometown heroes who are giving back to their communities.
This woman does it all and she kicks butt at everything she does, which is exactly how every Jersey Girl does it!
Not many people express how proud they are of their hometowns quite like Governor Richard J. Codey. The Orange, New Jersey native and the Garden State’s 53rd governor sat down with HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino to give her a “slice” of his home town.
In his 30 plus years in the legislature, Governor Codey has become one of New Jersey’s fiercest mental health advocates, spearheading countless improvements that have led to better mental health care throughout the state of New Jersey. He also passed the the Smoke-free Air Act, which banned the use of tobacco products indoors.
When he’s not busy fighting for the rights of New Jersey’s citizens, he’s running his family’s funeral home, with locations in Caldwell and Boonton. You can also find him coaching sports and relaxing with his beloved family.
Governor Codey entertained us at his favorite Orange hangout, Star Tavern “World Famous” Pizzeria. Find out now how growin’ up Jersey helped shape him into the man he is today.
