Moira McCullough, founder of College Scoops, came to the studio to tell Lisa Marie Latino about her website.
College Scoops is designed to make college trips easier. The site serves as an insider’s guide on where to eat and hang out on and off campus. Usually when students visit college campuses with their parents, the school shows them all the formal stuff. College scoops provides information that allows students to get a better feel for the environment.
“The key thing is: what happens behind the scenes?” McCullough said. “How do you get a feel for the campus? Is this a place where you want to call home? Do you want to spend 80 thousand dollars at this school each and every year for the next four years?”
Moira came up with the idea after having a bad experience on a college trip with her son. She has three children, two who are in college and one who is still in high school.
College Scoops with 140 colleges online and works with 900 student ambassadors. The site gets all its information through current students and their families and friends, through word-of-mouth and Instagram.
“Students want to share why their campus rocks,” McCullough said. “They love sharing the information.”
