Conforti Couture’s Angela Conforti, a local jewelry and clothing designer based in Northern New Jersey, stopped by the #HipNJ studio to show us how to make one of her cool DIY designs.
According the official website, Angela started Conforti Couture to encourage women to be different and to standout against the norm.
Lately, in high fashion, little fur pompoms have been really popular. So, Conforti decided to make fun earrings in a similar fashion.
The right tools, yarn, and the chain are all you need. The materials come up to a total of only $24.
Step 1: Loop it!
“We start off with one end, and then you just start turning.”
Step 2: Tie it!
“You want to make sure it’s nice and tight.”
Step 3: Cut it!
“Go through all those loops and cut them.”
Step 4: Shape it!
“You cut the extra, and shape it the way you want to.”
Step 5: Chain it!
“I am going to figure out how much I want on my chain.”
We cannot believe Conforti was able to craft a pair of earrings in less than five minutes. “If you have a vision, you can bring it to life, and that’s what I try to do,” she says.
Why does Conforti love DIY jewelry? She is savvy, doesn’t like to spend a lot of money, and always finds herself thinking that she can create the fashion she sees. “Why can’t I make something and say that it came from me as opposed to other people?” To her, that is the best thing to be able to do.
Conforti does a lot of custom orders, as well as craft fairs. To learn more and place your very own order, check out her Facebook and website.
