Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza has a new location in the Garden State, and #HipNJ was at their grand opening with NFL Hall-of-Fame quarterback, Dan Marino!
Dan- a partner in the very successful restaurant chain- met with legions of his New Jersey fans while graciously posing for pictures and signing autographs in the sweltering Wayne heat. Afterwards, happy customers devoured Anthony’s “well done” pizza, tasty meatballs and one-of-a-kind buffalo wings!
#HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino chatted with Dan and the important people that have brought this South Florida concept to- in our humble opinion- the pizza capital of the world!
“I love pizza, and I didn’t like the pizza in Florida,” explained Anthony’s Founder/CEO (and New York native), Anthony Bruno. “We opened up one of these in 2002 and did very well, so we decided to be the only ones to bring Florida pizza to Jersey.”
“Up here, you have a real legacy of good pizza, good Italian food. So for us to come up here in “the belly of the beast” and do well says a lot about the brand,” added Anthony’s Chief Marketing Officer, Nicholas Castaldo.
What sets Anthony’s a part from all the other restaurant chains (besides its fresh ingredients and authentic recipes!) is the genuine support of its A-list partner.
“A lot of celebrities that get involved in restaurants do nothing more than rent their name…but he’s a true believer. He loves the food. He eats there, his family eats there. He loves the whole thing,” said Castaldo.
Controlling the enthusiastic crowd on July 23rd was the “leader” of New Jersey’s Miami Dolphins constituency, “Miami Mike” Minervini.
“Being next to Dan and celebrating today’s signing and the great new restaurant has been a blast,” exclaimed “Miami Mike”, who owns Miami Mikes Sports Zone in East Hanover.
Dan himself summed up the day best: “We had a lot of fun here in Wayne…it was great food, good people, and that’s all that matters!”
