Distillery Shares Their World Cocktail Day Recipe

Distillery Shares Their World Cocktail Day Recipe

As we reflect on our lives in uncertain times, we find that we still have a lot to raise a glass to. Bently Heritage Estate Distillery would like to help celebrate World Cocktail Day by sharing their latest cocktail recipe, the Elusive Cocoloupe.

This Wednesday, May 13th is a day to kick back with a stiff drink and enjoy beautiful spring weather. Lucas Huff, an artisan mixologist with Bently Heritage Estate, has designed this year’s cocktail around their award-winning Source One Vodka.

Distillery owners Christopher and Camille Bently are passionate about protecting the earth and serving their community. They’re devotees of LEED, a set of eco-friendly architecture guidelines. During the coronavirus crisis, they’ve also repurposed their facilities to make hand sanitizer and disinfectant.

Bently Heritage Estate dedicates the Elusive Cocoloupe to all those who protect the planet–and to cherishing the little things in life as spring becomes summer.

RECIPE FOR “THE ELUSIVE COCOLOUPE”

cocktail, world cocktail day

  • 1.5 oz Source One Vodka
  • 0.75 oz lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz orange juice
  • 0.75 oz Coco Lopez Coconut Cream
  • 0.5 oz Amaro Nepéta
  • 2 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
  • 3, 1-inch cubes of fresh cantaloupe
  • Top off with soda
  • Garnish with cantaloupe or peppermint

Muddle the cantaloupe at the bottom of your cocktail shaker until the chunks are soft; then add the remaining ingredients and shake gently with ice. Pour the mixture over crushed ice, and top with the Peychaud’s bitters.

“This drink is as interesting as it is delicious,” says Huff. “Fresh cantaloupe and coconut flavors are combined with citrus to brighten things up a bit, now more than ever.”
