Empower Through Flour for Women’s History Month

Empower Through Flour for Women’s History Month

This March, Shaka Bowl and Choc O Pain French Bakery & Café are proud to be participating in Empower Through Flour, a campaign aimed at charities supporting young women and girls.

Empower Through Flour was founded in 2018 by Angela Garbacz and Caroline Schiff, who are both pastry chefs. For Women’s History Month, the campaign aims to bring women together with non-profit partners who deal in women’s issues.

For 2020, Empower Through Flour is partnering with the #GirlUp campaign, founded by the United Nations Foundation in 2010. #GirlUp aims to raise funds and support advocacy surrounding women’s issues such as gendered violence, educational opportunity, and workplace inequality.

To date, the campaign’s participating business owners have raised more than $15,000 for women’s charities.

All through Women’s History Month, a portion of proceeds from Choc O Pain’s purple currant cake or Shaka Bowl’s vegan Funfetti Purple cookies will be donated to #GirlUp.

All Shaka Bowl and Choc O Pain locations will be participating in the campaign this March. Shaka Bowl is based out of Hoboken, while Choc O Pain has locations in both Hoboken and Jersey City.
