HIP New Jersey’s September Fabulous Female, is Michelle Tavares of Clinton NJ. Michelle is a mom, professional, spiritual coach and … wait for it … a grandmother, or really a glamma because she truly is fabulous. This story is near to my heart, because I went to High School with this loving soul.
Like most of us, Michelle went the traditional route of going to college, after graduating High School. Being very creative, and passionate about fashion, Michelle attended Virginia Commonwealth University and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising. After college, Michelle decided to work in the Fashion Industry in Manhattan. Michelle had to endure, what sadly is rampant in today’s society. She was sexually harassed at one job, and then sexually assaulted in another. These experiences soured her to corporate America. Shortly thereafter she found a job in telecom, and has stuck with that for the last 20 years.
Working, and raising a family, was not enough for Michelle. For many years Michelle was obsessed with self-development and transformation. Her desire to heal and grow stems from her childhood. Michelle was raised by a young single mom. Her mom sacrificed a lot for her. Like many women, Michelle’s mother suffered from a lack of self-esteem and struggled with body image issues. At the time there weren’t the support systems available that we have today. Having such a close bond, it pained Michelle to see her mother suffer. She developed a codependency with the constant desire to help her mom feel better about herself.
Based on her childhood experiences, Michelle felt she had a calling to help other women. Not wanting to come from a place of codependency, but instead empowerment, she knew she had to heal herself first. It was her driving force, to become someone to touch, inspire and impact other women. Her greatest desire is to transform their lives, helping women breakthrough limiting beliefs so they feel unstoppable, supported and loved. Michelle spent time working on herself through therapy, hiring coaches and attending many personal development workshops. This instilled a thirst for knowledge in universal law, neuroscience and spirituality – which ultimately led her to stumble upon the bio of Dr. Erin Fall Haskell. Michelle describes Dr. Erin as one of her greatest gifts, someone who has touched and transformed her life in ways she never imagined.
Dr. Erin is the founder of Soulciété, an organization whose mission is to be the #1 spiritual leader’s community in the world, committed to enlightenment, empowerment and entrepreneurship. Soulciété believes that when someone awakens they have a gift and a message to bring to the world. With Dr. Erin’s help, Michelle was able to overcome her own limiting beliefs, find her life purpose and pay that forward by helping others do the same. Soulciété prides itself on being a community. It’s a group of women who support and love each other unconditionally, but in the same token hold each other accountable in reaching their full potential. Michelle’s passion, with the support of her community, is to awaken the world to their power within. By using the life-changing tools and knowledge she has gained, she works daily to spread love and share the message that prosperity, vitality and love is our birthright, we just need to get out of our own way. Subconscious reprogramming unlocked all of that for her – “the ultimate game-changer!” She shares these tools with others and teaches women how to stop self-sabotage. In her opinion, we will continue to attract the same experiences, creating a vicious cycle, unless we do our inner work to breakthrough our limiting beliefs and finally rewrite our story – I think this hits close to home for many of us.
Michelle firmly believes that women should love and support each other! Her mentality is “you CAN sit with us!”. Growing up she never felt like she fit in, and was bullied for her appearance. Knowing how lonely that can feel, she wants to help other women know that they matter. She wants other women to know that if you surround yourself with people who believe in you and uplift you, that anything is possible. I asked Michelle what tip would she give women if they feel insecure – her answer was quick, “find community, because I promise you’re not alone.” In Michelle’s opinion, the feeling of not being enough prevents many women from pursuing their dreams, relationships, etc.
We live in a society ruled by social media. This sometimes can be a hindrance, if you are already struggling with self-esteem and a lack of support system. For those of us raising daughters, we know the struggle to instill that self-confidence into our little girls, when we are lacking it ourselves. Michelle, having a daughter herself, is on a mission to help create beauty from the inside out. She wants “every woman to feel unstoppable in pursuing a life they love, one by design, not default”. She does this in honor of the bond she has with her own mom, the strong relationship she has with her daughter and the struggles they’ve endured and overcome. Michelle encourages any woman who is feeling like something is missing in their life, struggling to gain more confidence, or is seeking a community of empowering women to reach out to her. You can follow Michelle on Instagram or Facebook for daily inspiration, motivation and love – and hopefully you will pay it forward!
