Sal Zurzolo, co-founder of the Garden State Comic Fest, joined Lisa Marie Latino in the #HipNJ studio to discuss the convention hitting the Mennen Arena in Morristown on July 8 and 9.
Zurzolo says that his business partner David O’Hare thought it would be a great idea if New Jersey had its very own Comic-Con. So, they launched their first show in January, 2014. “It was a big success, so we built from there,” he states.
What is there to see at the Garden State Comic Fest? “Let’s start with the comic books,” Zurzolo says. “We pride ourselves in being a real comic book convention.” Vendors sell comics ranging from Golden Age to modern.
There is also a great following from the cosplay community. “It’s not just superhero costumes,” Zurzolo says. “You never know what you’re going to see.”
