With beautiful weather coming NJ’s way this week, #HipNJ’s Maria Falzo sat down with Oskar and Nicole Elmgart of Treebath, the company that “turns screen time into green time.”
Nicole and Oskar are a married couple, with two young boys. Being parents they felt like it was necessary to always make sure their kids loved the outdoors. Their family loves being in nature, and being surrounded by fresh air.
The two founded Treebath to help people disconnect from technology and get back into the outdoors. Starting in 2018, they based their program off of an after school program that Oskar attended when he was a child. This inspired the Nicole and Oskar to want to have people out and enjoying an nature, and that wasn’t only children.
They also has an adult program where adult also get their own breath of fresh air. They wanted to create a way for adults to get outside and connect with nature as well.
Their adult program called ‘Forest Therapy’ was certified but the association of Nature and Forest Therapy in January of 2018. This therapy includes therapeutic and wellness practices proven to improve mental health.
The children programs include an after school program for ages Pre K to Second Grade. Over the summer they have short weekly mini-camps. All of these are to help children have the health benefits of being in nature, but making sure they are having fun.
The couple continues to grow their committed but make sure to stick to their one main message. That is to bring adults and children back outside.
