When we hear of Fourth of July, we immediately think of the beach, fireworks and what American flag cladded apparel we will debut at the family BBQ. With all these exciting activities taking place on America’s birthday, we can also take time to reflect all the freedoms and gifts our country has provided for us! Why not give back on this holiday?
Here are some activities you can do to make our country an even greater place!
1.) Send a package to a soldier who is fighting overseas! These men and women can’t spend most holidays with their families, so why not send them some treats and goods they love! Not sure what and where to send? Visit the Support Our Troops website to learn about care packages!
2.) Visit veterans at the VA hospital and thank them by listen to their stories! Check out the closest NJ Veterans hospital near you here.
3.) Visit (or maybe even volunteer!) at a historical landmark! Here’s a list of all the historical attractions in New Jersey!
4.) Helping fellow Americans who don’t have much by donating to a local food pantry and/or donating old clothes to Goodwill.
5.) Volunteer at your town’s Fourth of July parade and fireworks event they might be having! Plenty of towns have small budgets for celebrations, so why not give a hand?
6.) Having a BBQ at your house? Have your guest donate $5, $10, or whatever amount to a local charity or clause!
We at #HipNJ hope you have a fabulous and safe Fourth of July weekend!
