The Jersey skies had finally cleared up and offered the much-needed sunshine we’ve been waiting for, just in time for the weekend! We are here to give you the #HipNJ weekend recap, filled with lot’s of exciting happenings!
To start off, funnyman Adam Sandler came to Atlantic City last Friday to perform a show at the Hard Rock Live. Beforehand, he decided to roll up to an inner-city basketball court to shoot hoops with some local kids! The unexpected players weren’t sure if it was really Sandler at first, but after the shock wore off, they were pleased to have the Brooklyn native play with them. One of the boys took to Snapchat to share that comedian was, in fact, on the Pennsylvania Ave court about to play some hoops. The Murder Mystery star took photos with the kids and was just as hilarious as he is on the big screen!
It was also an exciting week for Devil fans, who celebrated the acquirement of one of the top defensemen in the NHL! P.K. Subban will depart from the Nashville Predators to join the New Jersey Devils for the upcoming season. It was quite the deal, trading defenseman Steven Santini, a young prospect and two second-round draft picks for the all-star player.
Subban has spent the past three seasons with Nashville but became a household name during his time with the Montreal Canadiens. The Toronto native also played for Canada’s 2014 Winter Olympic team, who happened to take the gold that year!
The defenseman took his excitement to social media, sharing a video, asking the Jersey team, “Are you ready for the ‘Subbanator?!’ Because I’m ready, let’s go!” Here’s what else he had to say!

The weekend has also kicked off some cool events in the Garden State. The State Fair Meadowlands started its 18-day festivities on the 20th! This huge family event is being held on the Met Life Stadium grounds. The attractions include kiddie and thrill rides, as well as events, like pig racing, magic shows, petting zoos, and more!
