What is your favorite local restaurant?
Village Trattoria in Summit is a family fave! They have the nicest team of employees that seem to genuinely care about each other and their customers. Their grandma pie is a must. Our oldest daughter has celiac disease, and they always have the yummiest pasta dishes for her so that she never feels left out. It makes eating out as a family really easy.
What is your favorite salon or spa?
My friend, Megan Marchetta, has been my stylist for years. She recently opened Top Knot Salon in Spotswood. In my opinion, she is more an artist than a hairstylist.
What is your favorite local health and wellness center?
I have been a YMCA girl my entire life. I love their mission, and it is a great place for the family to have a physical outlet when we need it. Plus, they have a hot yoga room. I also recently came to know Katye at Project Physique, and love her mission and business as well. Her personality is absolute sunshine and she keeps you motivated towards reaching your goals.
Where is your favorite local place for home decor?
GreatHouse and A Home are two of my favorites in Summit as well as Maplewood Mercantile. Each has such cool design points of view and the ability to find high quality and valuable pieces you will love forever.
What is your favorite nighttime hangout?
If my husband and I can muster the energy to go out, we enjoy dinner at Due 360 in Summit. After that, we will usually hop around town and grab drinks at The Summit House or Piattino. The bars are usually lovely but not overcrowded and loud.
What is your favorite local place to do business?
The Summit UPS store is seriously superhuman! Antonietta can do just about anything you need, from marketing materials, printing services, to processing and delivering your packages. The Co-Co in Summit also has a wonderful community and collaborative space for conducting business.
What is your favorite “Made in Jersey” product?
Helen Lewis, owner of Gifted Boutique in Robbinsville, created a jewelry line that incorporates sand from beaches all over the world into wearable keepsakes. The brand is called Jersey State Line. I also love BirchHouse hand poured soy candles. My husband and I both love Emily Gunselman’s amber oak scent.
What is your favorite New Jersey downtown district?
We love Summit of course, it was one of the main reasons we chose to move here. New Jersey has so many amazing downtown districts and each has its own personality. Asbury Park for the creative artist vibe, Hoboken for when you are craving more of a NYC neighborhood atmosphere, Princeton for the collegiate youthful energy, Lambertville or Frenchtown for a vintage feel, and Cape May for a relaxing beach getaway.
What is your favorite New Jersey-based service business?
Right now I am loving what Makerhoods in Newark are doing. I am also currently crushing on Sustainable Haus in Summit and The Green Tap in Maplewood, both focus on sustainable products and living initiatives. I also love Genius Gems in Millburn. They are an indoor STEM BASED play space for kids.
How has COVID-19 affected your business?
I hate that it has taken a pandemic, but COVID 19 has helped Beyond Main reach more business partners and shoppers looking to support local during this challenging time. Our mission has always been to create a platform that provides a positive economic impact on communities and small businesses.
