What is your favorite local restaurant?
One of my new favorite places to eat is Lascala’s Fire in Marlton. They have just about anything you want on the menu, but with an interesting twist on each classic. My favorite thing to order is called the ricotta board. It’s ricotta cheese and honey layered and served with warm bread. I crave it every day!
What is your favorite local boutique?
Elements Studio NYC gifted me with the most beautiful pair of earrings. They have their products in a store called Love Locked in Jersey City. You have to check out their pieces. Their company is based on the earth’s elements. With every purchase you get sage and information on how to create a positive intention for yourself. Rachel and Lori are also just the two sweetest women I’ve ever met. I have to get myself a new piece soon. They are simply amazing!
What is your favorite salon or spa?
My cousin Tara works at Bauhaus Hair Design in Collingwood. She is the best colorist I’ve ever had. First, the salon is amazing. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. It’s like hanging out with your friends. Spending hours getting your hair done is so much fun.
What is your favorite local health and wellness center?
My sister Molly Roche is a health queen, and fitness inspiration. She is always so motivating when it comes to being fit and eating healthy. I also love shopping from Honey Post in Medford Lakes. They are a smoothie and juice bar. I’m addicted to their pitaya bowls. Also, during COVID-19 they have been preparing produce boxes available for purchase so you don’t have to make a trip to the grocery store.
Where is your favorite local place for home decor?
Russo’s Fruit and Vegetable Farm in Tabernacle has some of the best home decor items. They are also a fully functioning farm. They’ve been in the same spot for 80 years, and it’s a place that will always make me feel at home. It’s family-run, and they have the BEST apple cider donuts. A section of their store is decorated with home decor items, and I can’t wait till I buy my own house and can decorate it with all their items.
Where is your favorite local daytime hangout?
Every Sunday in the summer I spend my days at The Deck at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City. My talented boyfriend Nathan Butler sings in a band called The Exceptions and they play there every Sunday May through September. It’s one of my favorite places to be. It’s family-friendly, the drinks are always good, the band keeps you dancing, and you’re right on the water! It’s so fun to look at the boats and soak up the sun while listening to great music.
What is your favorite nighttime hangout?
I live right down the street from one of the most famous buffalo wing restaurants in New Jersey, the Pic-a-Lilli Inn in Shamong. When the weather gets nice they set up the outdoor bar, picnic tables, and a bonfire. I have so many great memories sitting outside for dinner, and just relaxing. It’s such a fun atmosphere. Plus, their food is always delicious.
What is your favorite local place to do business?
Obviously the Long Shot Productions office in Fairfield. I miss being surrounded by the amazing people that work in the office! I wish we were back working, and ordering matcha lattes from Zest.
What is your favorite “Made in Jersey” product?
Joe Tea! It’s made right in Upper Montclair. I’ve been drinking this my whole life, and just recently realized it was made in New Jersey.
What is your favorite New Jersey downtown district?
I am a huge fan of small downtown communities and think that it’s so important to #ShopLocal. One of my new favorite downtown spots is Brigantine. My family recently purchased a house in town, and the community is so amazing. I can’t wait to spend more time there.
What is your favorite New Jersey-based service business?
This definitely has to be Whisktakers. Dom DeFalco came into the office for one of our Hip NJ studio days, and I absolutely loved his business. He creates “how to” baking kits that get sent to you with ingredients and directions on how to make a delicious treat. His creations are super unique. Also, everything he puts on his Instagram feed is mouth-watering.
How has COVID-19 affected your business?
Before the craziness of COVID-19, I was working in the Long Shot Productions office, and finishing up my last semester at Montclair State University. During early March, we found out that our Spring Break was extended another week, and most classes were online until further notice. Then, after being home for two weeks all residents on campus were forced to move out, and everything was moved online. Graduation has now been postponed until further notice.
I was also the President of my sorority Theta Kappa Chi and had to make huge transitions to not being on campus. This is never how I imagined my last semester as a senior in college ending. I feel that my last semester was almost “ripped” away from me. I look forward to seeing the positive impacts the pandemic has on the community and the happiness that comes out of it.
