What is your favorite “Made in Jersey” product?
My personal favorite “Made in Jersey” product is bar soap handcrafted by Preethy Ghandi, the owner of Pristine Soaps. I love her soaps so much that I decided to carry them in my skincare shop. Pristine Soaps are handcrafted using artisanal methods. They are completely natural and she uses no artificial fragrances or colorants. Instead, Preethy, the owner, uses plant-based substances to naturally beautify her soap.
What is your favorite New Jersey downtown district?
I’m loving the direction that Nutley’s downtown district is taking lately. It is becoming more diverse every day, and unique businesses are popping up around town. A new oxygen bar is due to open shortly and I’ve very curious and excited to try it out!
How has COVID-19 affected your business?
The COVID-19 situation encouraged me to be more flexible and creative in order to keep my business operational. I originally planned to release my hand sanitizer during summertime, but when the pandemic hit, I dropped everything, finalized my formula, used bottles that I already had on-hand, and self-labeled them. I was able to release my hand sanitizer within 1 business day just at the time the stores were out of stock. At this time, my store was only open for 3 months. This situation enabled me to connect with the local community by providing a product that people very much needed, and placed my small store on the map.
