Jersey City’s newest restaurant – Lokal Eatery and Bar – will officially open Sept. 21.
Lokal is located on 2 2nd Street, right on the Hudson River. There’s a patio outside the restaurant, but it won’t open until springtime. Until then, the restaurant’s tall, ceiling-high windows will allow guests to gaze out at the Manhattan skyline as they eat.
The restaurant’s interior includes a lounge area, private dining areas, and a bar area. There’s also a wall to display art by Jersey City residents a wall for taking selfies. The dining room is large enough to hold about 200 people.
All the food and cocktails listed on Lokal’s menu will be made from local New Jersey ingredients, hence the restaurant’s name.
“Our mission at Lokal is to showcase the best the state has to offer and provide a place that reflects the culture of Jersey City,” the owner, Mona Panjwani, said.
The food will be prepared by executive chef Walter Donadio, and consultant Tess Sawyer will help prepare the cocktails and drinks.
