A cluttered closet is a cluttered mind. One #hip woman is here to help you let go of your materialist attachments and tap into your highest potential.
#HipNJ’s Kelly Dillon sat with Mindful Style founder Betsy Ames, who is rejuvenating lives one closet at a time.
Betsy has enjoyed a fabulous career in fashion, but nine years ago realized that motherhood didn’t jive with her former fashionista persona. She made over her closet to reflect her new life, and her inner circle quickly signed up to give their closets the same practical touch.
“I believe when you have less, your mind is cleared,” explained Betsy.
Betsy works with clients to create a “personal formula” based on clothing and accessories that reflect their true lifestyle. To cut down on wardrobe anxiety, Betsy simplifies clients’ selections by streamlining their choices. Betsy also urges clients to patronize companies with eco-friendly, high quality items, and teaches responsible ways to get rid of old clothing.
“Don’t throw away your garments. Donate, or give to a consignment shop,” urged Betsy. “A typical polyester blouse it like a plastic bottle- it takes 100 years to disintegrate.”
In this segment, Betsy offers advise to all the closet hoarders out there. “I would start by putting things away out of site. If you don’t miss it, why are you hanging onto it?”
