This Sunday is the game that we have all been waiting for, the Super Bowl. Whether you watch for the game, the halftime show, or the commercials, Super Bowl Sunday is upon us. The Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots will face off in Houston, Texas for the 51st Super Bowl. We at Hip New Jersey wanted to remind you of the New Jersey natives that helped these teams reach the big game.
Logan Ryan– The 25-year old cornerback is from Berlin, New Jersey. Logan Ryan stayed true to New Jersey and played for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights from 2010-2012. Ryan was selected in the third round by the New England Patriots in the 2013 NFL draft. This season is Ryan’s fourth year with the team and has started at cornerback for the past two years. This year Ryan led all cornerbacks in tackles.
This is not Ryan’s first Super Bowl game. He was a starter in the Patriots Super Bowl win against the Seattle Seahawks in 2015. Ryan will be looking to win his second Super Bowl in his short career. Ryan will have to cover his former college roommate, Mohamed Sanu.
Mohamed Sanu- The 27-year old wide receiver originally from Sayreville, New Jersey, but later moved to Dayton, New Jersey. Mohamed Sanu also stayed true to New Jersey and played for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights from 2009-2011. Sanu was selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. After the 2015-2016 season, Sanu was a free agent. He chose to sign a five year deal with the Atlanta Falcons.
In just his first season with the Falcons he is on his way to his first Super Bowl appearance. Sanu had 59 receptions, 653 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his first season with the Falcons. Sanu will go head-to-head with his former college roommate, Logan Ryan.
