New York athletes across all sports recently came together for a celebrity softball game at Yankees Stadium to support Bergen County power couple Amber and CC Sabathia‘s Pitcch In Foundation.
This foundation enriches the lives of inner city youth by raising their self-esteem through educational and athletic activities. It is located in the New York Tri-state area and also Northern California.
The jam-packed rosters featured over 70 A-list names, including: Victor Cruz, Mariano Rivera, Action Bronson, Sharlee Jeter, Tiki Barber among others. Hollywood power couple Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez also popped in to say hello from the Yankees’ dugout!
Furthermore CC, a 2009 New York Yankees World Series Champion, discussed how the event was a dream come true. In fact, he said, “I always told [my wife] Amber that I’ve wanted to do a rockin’ softball game, but I never thought it would turn out like this.”
#HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino spoke to some of the game’s participants on the pregame red carpet. This included: current Bronx Bomber Didi Gregorius; Yankees legend Jorge Posada and his wife, Laura; retired stars Johnny Damon and Carlos Beltran (New York Yankees). In addition, she spoke to Willie Colon (New York Jets); Chris Canty (New York Giants); Charles Oakley and Amar’e Stoudemire (New York Knicks). Finally, she spoke with the man of the hour himself, CC Sabathia. Mitchell Modell of Modell’s Sporting Goods and Ralph Scamardella of Tao Group were among the supporters.
