#HipNJ’s Maria Falzo sat down to talk to Kiersten and Krista Gormeley of Shaka Bowl. Shaka Bowl is a health-focused eatery located in Hoboken, New Jersey.
In 2014, Kiersten and Krista moved to Hawaii where they learned the ways of the locals. In Hawaii, people treat their bodies with respect and gratitude. They eat wholesome, and nutritious food. These sisters were so inspired by the way the Hawaiians lived they decided to bring back their knowledge to New Jersey, and help people live the Hawaiian way here.
Come 2016, Kiersten and Krista opened their first store in Hoboken. They focused on acai bowls, pitaya bowls, poke bowls, and smoothies. The people of Hoboken started to love living the Hawaiian way, which allowed Kiersten and Krista to expand their menu, and even open up a second location in Hoboken.
Today, Shaka Bowl prepares food with fresh, natural ingredients, and they cater to every single dietary need. Their menu now includes soups, baked good, toasts, and more! They brought their famous vegan chocolate chip cookies into the #HipNJ studio, and they were delicious. Kiersten actually created the recipe herself when she was a freshman in high school.
Even though the way we are living now is completely different because of the COVID-19 pandemic, you can still get your favorite goodies from Shaka Bowl. They are open from 8 am-7 pm and will be taking call ahead orders, and delivering. If you live in the area, make sure to support this awesome local business.
You can find more information, and stay updated with Shaka Bowl on their website, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
