Sharon Pérez, the business development manager for TENCEL™ in the United States, is back to fill us in on where to find stylish and sustainable shoes for Fall 2020.
TENCEL™ is a company that specializes in wood based fibers which are FSC certified and also biodegradable. Their fibers can be found in many products—shirts, pants, socks, and shoes. The fibers are soft to guarantee comfort for the wearer, but they’re also strong enough to endure constant use.
During a Zoom call with Maria Falzo of #HipNJ, Sharon discussed which brands TENCEL™ collaborated with to create fashionable footwear. Maria had the shoes available in the studio to try on and see which she likes best.
The first brand they discussed was Toms. Maria displayed a pair of CloudBound™ Alpargata shoes with a tie-dye design (and she sported a separate pair during her discussion with Sharon). These shoes have TENCEL™ fibers in the lining. The CloudBound™ Alpargata shoes currently come in two tie-dye color designs: blue and pink. Maria wore the blue and displayed the pink.
The second brand they discussed was Allbirds. Allbirds named their TENCEL™-based shoes “tree dashers.” The shoes Maria brought into the studio were women’s tree dashers, perfect for female joggers. The tree dashers are machine washable, and they minimize odors. All Birds also has Trino™ Sprinters, a pair of running socks to go with the dasher running shoes.
