Introducing The Connie Dwyer Breast Center Foundation

The Connie Dwyer Breast Center is poised for a big 2017!

The amazing #HipNJ charity has announced that they have established the Connie Dwyer Breast Center Foundation. Further, they are working with the equally fabulous Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth to build a second Connie Dwyer Breast Center. At their recent Embrace Hope gala at The Grove, the foundation raised $395,000 towards their efforts.

“There is still much work to be done to meet the ever-increasing needs of the community,” says Connie Dwyer, founder of the Breast Center. “Establishing this foundation creates a future that embraces hope for those in need.”

Eleven years ago, the Connie Dwyer Breast Center was established in Newark. Through education and outreach programs, the Connie Dwyer Breast Center has increased its patient volume over a ten year period from 4,500 procedures to 20,000 in Year Ten. The Breast Center provided state-of-the-art breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.

This proud tradition will now be serving patients at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, and Union County’s #1 hospital couldn’t be more thrilled.

“The women of our community are most definitely in need of comprehensive breast care such as that offered by the Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation,” says Gary Horan, President/CEO of Trinitas Regional Medical Center. “I look forward to a rewarding partnership – one that will save and improve many lives!”

“I know I speak for all of us at Trinitas when I say that we’re very excited about the dramatic impact we will have on women’s health in the Greater Elizabeth Community,” added Nadine Brechner, Executive Director of the Trinitas Health Foundation. “Many women simply cannot afford preventative care, and worse, many do not undergo needed treatment because of the cost. Connie Dwyer removes all those barriers.”

The Connie Dwyer Breast Center 10th Anniversary Gala

It’s #hip to be #healthy, and #HipNJ is helping fight breast cancer by celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Connie Dwyer Breast Center!

Opened in 2005, The Connie Dwyer Breast Center at Saint Michael’s Medical Center is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art facility providing expert diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Further, the Center stresses prevention, early detection, and educational outreach programs in northern New Jersey.

#HipNJ’s Maria Falzo was on the pink carpet of the Center’s 10th Anniversary gala at The Grove in Cedar Grove, and shared in the joy of the Center’s key supporters.

“When we started we saw 4,500 women and did 4,500 procedures in 2005” says Janet Lesko, the Center’s Director of Development “This year, we’re going to do over 20,000! We turn no woman away so regardless of her ability to pay, we will take care of that woman.”

Not only was attending the event a way to give back (as every person who attended helped make a mark for the advancement and cure of breast cancer!) the auction prizes were exquisite! Ranging from luxury-brand handbags to a trip to Milan, attendees had a chance to bring a small (or large) part of the celebration home with them.

Daniel Paltridge, president of Bvlgari North Americatalked fondly about his company’s relationship with the Center. “Connie has been a friend of the brand for many years and Bulgari is very proud about everything they can do to help.”

No one was prouder than Bob and Connie Dwyer’s children- Becky Morano, Maureen Griffith and Susan Cabana.

“It’s amazing to see how many people have come out to support [our parents].  They are so grateful to have so many people in their lives help further their cause,” gushed Susan.

Giuliana Rancic & Fab-U-Wish

One of the most difficult situations a woman can face is the diagnosis of breast or ovarian cancer.   E! Network‘s Giuliana Rancic, a breast cancer survivor, recently visited #HipNJ to help inspire women in their own cancer fight.

#HipNJ‘s Kelly Dillon chatted with Giuliana at Westfield Garden State Plaza‘s Fab-U-Wishes Do Come True “Pink Party”.  The event featured a runway show with the latest trends from Vince CamutoC WonderRobin’s JeanNordstrom, and Karen Millen, with makeup by Kiko Milano. Attendees also were treated to cocktails, raffles, and a special giveaway to grant the wishes of two breast cancer survivors, treating them each to a personalized New York City excursion.

Through Bright Pink’s Fab-U-Wish collaboration with Giuliana, cancer survivors have the opportunity to be treated like an A-list Hollywood star.  Using Giuliana’s insider connections, Fab-U-Wishers can dine with their favorite celebrity, get a glam makeover, or walk down the red carpet!

“I’m grateful to be where I am today – a new mother, feeling strong and healthy, and in a position to help other women now going through what I did,” Giuliana explains. “Along with my friend Lindsay Avner and the team at Bright Pink, I hope to pay it forward and become a “fairy godmother” to other women by establishing Fab-U-Wish. I sure know firsthand that a little bit of fabulous can go a long way to keep you feeling bright during some of the darkest days.”

If you can Fab-U-Wish for it, Bright Pink and Giuliana could make your dreams come true.   On the wishes they’ve granted and how to submit yourself or your loved one, visit their website.

A little bit of “Fab-U” can go a long way to kick cancer’s butt for good!
