MPAC’s “Conversations & Cocktails with Liz Tuccillo”

The event included networking opportunities, hors d’oeurvres, specialty cocktails and more held in MPAC’s Starlight Room before Liz Tuccillo took the stage. Ms. Tuccillo shared insights from her career, starting out as a graduate of New York University with a concentration in experimental theater then detailing her transition into screenwriting and eventual success as an author. The audience enjoyed her humor-filled lecture, followed by an acute Q&A session and book signings with the author.

Liz Tuccillo is best known for writing for two seasons on HBO’s “Sex and the City.” She went on to co-author the self-help book “He’s Just Not That Into You”, which was turned into a feature film of the same title. Her first novel, “How to Be Single”, has also been turned into a film that premiered in movie theaters on February 12, 2016. She is also the creator of the 2005 television series Related which aired on the WB network and worked on NBC’s “Smash.” She recently wrote and directed her first feature film “Take Care” and is currently developing Roz Chast’s graphic novel “Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant” for television.

Vue Magazine Launch Party

#HipNJ spent the night by the Hudson River celebrating Vue Magazine’s launch party at Waterside in North Bergen.

Founder and editor Jason Underberg calls Vue a “high-end lifestyle magazine” that caters specifically to North Jersey. In an area filled with high class, the “point of Vue” is to highlight real life aspects of luxury living and keep the entirety of the magazine as authentic as possible.

Vue strives to supply the latest news to the affluent population of North Jersey and gives exclusive insight into cars, products and everything in between. Underberg’s CEO experience at his first magazine publication, The Digest, gives great hope for a bright future of Vue.

Co-founder and director Brian Kovener says: “Bergen County is one of the most luxurious areas of the US. There wasn’t a medium to deliver that to the population until now.”

The launch of the opulent magazine was celebrated with a beautiful view, great food, and hand rolled cigars.  Sponsors that participated in the event included Dilusso Beverly Bills, Ketel One Vodka and more.

In the inaugural Spring 2016 edition, luxe women are given the latest insight into spring colors from Neimen Marcus with a $2,395 outfit. And the upscale gentlemen are catered to with a first look at the Rolls Royce Dawn.

Pick up your copy of Vue at any high end car dealership or retailer, or check it out online at VueNJ.com!

Special Olympics of New Jersey Snow Bowl 2016

It’s time for the tenth annual Special Olympics of New Jersey Snow Bowl!

Hip New Jersey recently joined local fire and police officers at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center, home of the New York Giants.  Everyone teamed up to donate their time (and a few throws) to raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics of New Jersey.

The SONJ mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Steven Rogers, a Nutley Police Department participant told Hip New Jersey, “God has given me so much in my life and it’s very important that I give back”.

Chief Larry Minda of the East Rutherford PD spoke to the cameras, “All you’ve got to do is look at kids. Look at kids who don’t have what you have and maybe need that extra opportunity. We’re a bunch of old guys out here having the time of our life playing and if we can do something that gives them that opportunity and those special days, you know what, it’s a great feeling”.

This is the tenth year that the New York Giants Snow Bowl is being held. The first year there were only fourteen teams participating. This year there are close to 150 teams supporting the Special Olympics of New Jersey with 24,000 athletes across the state of NJ.  This year, the NY Giants Snow Bowl is hoping to raise half-a-million dollars for the Special Olympics of New Jersey!
