HipNJ’s Weekend Recap: 5/31-6/2

This past weekend, New Jersey was home to such a diverse range of amazing events! Here are some of our favorites!

LGTBQ+ Pride Month Kicked off in Asbury Park

Pride Month began in NJ with the first celebration in Asbury Park. The festivities began at noon, and the Asbury Park streets quickly filled with a parade, food, and performances.

The parade traveled from City Hall to Ocean Avenue. This kickoff is only the beginning! Pride will continue to be celebrated throughout the month in the Garden State.

Saquon Barkley of the NY Giants Hosts Local Football Camp

West Essex High School in Caldwell was visited by New York Giants Running Back, Saquon Barkley. He hosted an open football camp this past weekend on Giants’ campus to boys and girls in first to eighth grade.

Barkley’s intention was to help attendees boost their performance in the game. This camp proved to be a success by drawing in over 400 kids.

Dog Expo at the Meadowlands Expo Center

Many New Jersey pet owners made their way over to the Dog Expo over the weekend. The event consists of shopping, training, and education. One of the main goals of the expo is to promote rescuing and fostering dogs in need.

10th Annual Renaissance Faire Comes to an End

The past three weekends the NJ Renaissance Faire has been in Bordentown. Attendees were able to watch live jousts, fire-eating performers, and glassblowing demonstrations. Even though the Faire has come to an end, stay updated on their website for smaller events they are holding throughout the summer.

Where to go on NYE!

Can you believe its almost 2019?! I can’t either! As the year comes to an end, everyone is jotting down their 2019 goals, New Year’s resolutions, and trying to find the best way to bring the new year in. 

While some like to stay home and watch the ball drop with family, others like to go out and party with friends. However do it, just be sure to have fun. Making it to see another year is always something to celebrate! 

For those who do want to party, but don’t know where to go, here’s a treat for you!

This event will take place at the BRAND NEW Atelier Ballroom in Jersey City. If you want to bring in the New Year in an elegant atmosphere, this is the place for you. There will be VIP seating and private rooms available. 

New Year’s Eve at Borgata

If you’re looking for a little getaway to bring the new year in, stay at the Borgata in Atlantic City! They’ll have exclusive casino deals, celebrity chefs and an amazing nightlife line-up! End the year with a bang at Borgata!

Bin 14’s 10th Anniversary!

Back in November 2008, Chef Anthony Pino and his wife/business parter Liz Pino opened Bin 14, which became Hoboken’s first and only wine bar. Today, with its snug atmosphere and Italian tapas menu, is constantly raved about by many guests and wine lovers. The New York Times featured the restaurant on their 2018 Wine Spectator Award of ExcellenceBin 14 continues to be featured in “Best Wine List” votes.

This year, the Pino’s celebrate 30 years of marriage, along with 30 years of business in their hometown, Hoboken. This November marks the 10th Anniversary Bin 14 which definitely calls for a celebration! 

The event is perfect for seasoned wine connoisseurs and newbies. Guests will experience a walking tasting tour of over 20 wineries throughout the restaurant and it’s backyard. Chef Pino will also be serving his favorite small plates from the new fall menu! There will be raffles taking place throughout the night and a portion of the proceeds will go toward Hudson County CASA

Chef Anthony Pino is one of New Jersey’s best chefs. He is adored for his fresh and favorable style, blending Italian flavors with traditional American and French cuisine. The couple celebrate a total of 30 years of business due to Bin 14’s 10th anniversary, as well as the 20th anniversary of their flagship restaurant, Anthony David’s

Anthony David’s began in 1998 as a gourmet catering place and expanded in 2002, becoming one of Hoboken’s favorite brunch, dinner and catered event spots. In 2013, Anthony David’s became an all-day trattoria.
