#HipNJ recently attended a #hip business event at Saks Fifth Avenue Short Hills!
In honor of Women’s History Month, the OMG Tea Party hosted the OMG Women in Business Master Class Experience in partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue of Short Hills and Flagg Labor. The champagne reception-style event centered around a lively discussion entitled “Leadership, Life and Success on Your Own Terms”. The esteemed panel was made up of NJ BIZ 2016 Lifetime Achievement Recipient, Sally Glick, Principal and Chief Growth Strategist of Sobel & Co.; Dorinda Walker, Vice President of Consumer Strategy and Key Initiatives Multicultural Marketing at Prudential U.S.; Kristi Brink, Vice President and General Manager of Saks Fifth Avenue Short Hills; Zakiyyah Sheila Flagg, CEO of Flagg Labor; Kim Keating, Founder and Chief Marketing Strategist of GIVE Marketing; and Shakira Johnson, Creative Director for Johnson PR & Events and The OMG Tea Party.
Shelly Aberson, president and founder of Aberson Narotzky & White, was very impressed by the event. “When Shakira said she was looking for mentors to help the girls here, I jumped at the chance. I’m so impressed!”
Brittany Hale, an attorney for Mayor Michael Bloomberg, was also very inspired by the positive energy that filled the room. “My favorite lesson from the evening was that success may not always look and feel like you thought it would. Once you achieve what you think is success, discovering that it may not look and feel like you want it to is not something people always expect.”
The event surpassed the expectations of OMG Tea Party founder Shakira Johnson! “It just shows that women are interested in these types of events. It promotes bonding, sisterhood and it’s also great for everyone’s respective businesses!”
After the discussion, attendees were treated to a make-up master class hosted by Estee Lauder and a fragrance sampling courtesy of Tom Ford.

Fuse Events, a #hip, customizable event space in Hoboken, has brought in a delicious new catering team, Empire Social Catering! To celebrate the partnership, they recently held a “Spring Awakening” event to showcase their respective talents to the marketplace.
Fuse is an event space that can accommodate events like birthday parties, showers, brunches and professional meetings. The space will hold 60 people seated or 80 standing. A small bar area is available for drinks, but the space is BYO. Seating includes bar tables with stools and a few lounge-style couches. There is also a small outdoor space available, with large windows and glass doors on either end of the space. It can be set up and decorated to suit most event needs!
Empire Social Catering is headed up by Chef Abe Elkomey. At the event we attended, Chef Elkomey crafted several creative small tastings, including a Mediterranean lamb meatball in a mint pesto, quinoa salad with pickled orange and a melon compote salad – to name a few!
Entertainment for the evening included a live jazz band and a special performance by Fuse owner Karen Nason.
Empire Social is available for off-site catering as well so feel free to check them out for any event. They have a full team from chefs to wait staff and clean up crew.

#HipNJ takes it old school with New Jersey’s only drive-in movie theater!
Get ready for some serious nostalgia, you guys. Delsea Drive-In Theatre takes you back to a time where 3D and IMAX movies didn’t take a toll on your wallet. Though they’re a dying breed, there is no reason for them to be less fun than they used to be. Whether you are on a date or with the family, drive-in movie theaters allow you the comfort of your own car. Not being stuck in a movie theater allows you to enjoy your company, laugh at the parts you’re not supposed to (don’t worry, we’re all guilty), and check those ever-important notifications on your phone. Plus, it’s cheaper! At Delsea Drive-In Theatre, double features are guaranteed and triple features are a special treat. Seeing two movies (and possibly three) for the price of one at a regular theatre is almost unheard of.
Enjoy the finer things in life by simplifying them. Now that the weather is warming up, it may be time for you to take a step back in time and take your first adventure of the summer. Located in Vineland, the theatre is only an hour drive from Atlantic City!
Don’t forget to check what movies are playing at delseadrive-in.com before you go.
