Introducing Bloomingdale’s Short Hills Athleisure

Maria Falzo joined stylist Felicia Geller to launch the department store’s new Athleisure department. Athleisure is a very popular fashion trend right now.  Basically, it is clothing that is designed for workouts but can also be worn on a day-to-day basis! This sporty trend incorporates the hottest trends in fashion including patches, tropical prints, and denim joggers. Felicia teaches Maria how to pull off the Athleisure look!

Top and leggings by Sweaty Betty; jacket by Maje, $480.00; Bloomingdale’s

Maria’s first look is a classic workout outfit. She is wearing Sweaty Betty leggings which are reversible. Reversible leggings have a different pattern on each side and are super convenient because you can wear them twice without people noticing that they are the same pair! Maria is also dressed in a loose-fitted Sweaty Betty top. She is sporting a Maje jacket and a pair of brightly colored Nike sneakers.

Next, Felicia dresses Maria in a more fashionable workout outfit. Maria is wearing leggings from FENTY Puma x Rihanna.  Felicia paired the leggings with a Sweaty Betty top, an Alo Yoga jacket and Puma sneakers.  The sneakers are accessorized with bows, which add glamour to this athletic look!

The third outfit Felicia styled for Maria highlights the fashion-forward nature of the Athleisure trend.  She did so by swapping  workout leggings for a pair of Vince Camuto pants. These pants are great because they have a wider leg which gives the outfit more of a professional feel. The bomber jacket is from J.O.A., and features this season’s embroidery trend. Maria is also wearing sneakers by Stuart Weitzman and a gym bag from Adidas by Stella McCartney.

MARC JACOBS Julie Verhoeven Denim Tote; $995.00; Bloomingdale’s

The next outfit Felicia selects features a jacket by Aqua. Underneath the jacket, Maria is wearing a sweatshirt by Maje. Tropical prints are very “in” right now so the parrots are right on trend! Maria is also carrying a beautiful patch work bag from Marc Jacobs. This outfit is completed by a pair of denim joggers by Sweaty Betty.

Felicia’s final outfit for Maria is a perfect example of how to fuse fashion and function. Felicia layers a Theory sweater with a Pho sweatshirt. Maria is wearing joggers by ATM. Since they are silk they can be worn casually, but if paired with the right pair of heels they can also be worn on a night out! Felicia adds a M.Z. Wallace bag and Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers to accessorize.

HackensackUMC Foundation Designer Showhouse

Hip New Jersey was recently at HackensackUMC Foundation’s Designer Showhouse. The estate featured #HipNJ‘s top interior and landscape designers, who transformed the sprawling Saddle River estate into a Jersey Luxe wonderland.

The event was to raise money and awareness for The HackensackUMC Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Hackensack University Medical Center.

Each designer was designated a room in the 10,000 square foot residence, and were encouraged to let their imaginations run wild.

Judi Schwarz of Fairfield‘s Judi Schwarz Interiors reconfigured a “concrete mess of a gym” into a sprawling “man cave” for the homeowner.

“The gentleman informed me he loved to ski and look at mountains, so I incorporated that into the design,” Judi explained.  The scenic space also boasts lush leather couches, a bar and a (cool blue!) pool table.

Patricia Lacourte of Wyckoff‘s Eurica was tapped to do the pool house.  Her inspiration for the space was a piece of artwork that featured a blue bird.  She incorporated the light blue color throughout the room, and used orange as an accent.  The pool house also features a kitchen living room, fireplace and more- in other words, it’s nicer than most regular homes!

Other #HipNJ designers who selflessly dedicated their time to the cause was Thyme & Place Design, LLC, Chatham Interiors, Creative Wallcoverings and Interiors, Diane Durocher Interiors and many others.
