How To Get More Instagram Followers #SMDay

By Kenneth Barilari

We all know how it feels to see people on your Instagram feed with hundreds of likes, while you sometimes struggle to break twenty. In honor of #SocialMediaDay, #HipNJ has decided to give you some tips on how to gain followers on the photo sharing platform.

  1. Use Hashtags

Whenever you post a photo, be sure to give it as many hashtags as you can that people would search. Also, certain hashtags like #FF (Follow Friday), #FollowBack, and #InstaFollow exist simply for the purpose of gaining followers.

  1. Use Other Platforms

Use your other social media platforms to promote your Instagram account. Post your username on Facebook, that way all of your Facebook friends are made aware of your account and have the information they need to find you.

  1. Follow Similar Accounts

If you see an account that posts similar content to your own, follow them and like their posts. Then, they might do the same for you.

  1. Quality Is Important

Let’s be honest. No one wants to follow someone who posts pictures that are boring. Make sure your posts are interesting and are of something people would want to see. Also, never post a blurry photo. Just don’t do it.

  1. Quantity Is Important

Do not post so much that people get annoyed and unfollow you. You want to gain and maintain your followers. So, post often, but do not be repetitive and don’t overwhelm.

5 Tips To Utilize Social Media For Your Business #SMDay

By Kenneth Barilari

Today is #SocialMediaDay and #HipNJ is here to help you out with all things social media. We have compiled a list of 5 tips for your business to utilize social media.

  1. Visual Matters.

Generally, a person will judge your page based on how it looks before even reading its content. Tweets with photos get more engagement, and posts on Facebook with images get more as well. Always give each post a featured image, and make your profile image something that represents you well and is pleasing to look at, like a logo.

  1. Headlines

Headlines are very important. If your headlines aren’t interesting, people will not click on your links and will not feel compelled to check out what else your page has to offer. Make your headlines as intriguing as possible, while staying true to the post and not giving too much away.

  1. Share At The Right Time

You want to make sure that you are releasing your content at a good time. You want to be sure people are online and ready to view. To do this, you should schedule your posts to be sent out at a certain time. Try out a few different times throughout the day to see what works best for your audience.

  1. Hashtags

If you are just starting out and want to raise awareness and get people seeing your page, use as many hashtags as possible. With hashtags, people who are interested in what you are posting have an easy way to see it. Don’t be afraid to load up on the hashtags, everyone does it!

  1. Respond

If you receive messages, whether they be positive or negative, always respond as timely as possible. This will raise your credibility, which will help you out in the long run.

Meadowlands State Fair Opens Our Weekend Recap

Another Monday, which means another weekend of #Summer2016 down (but so many more to go)! But not to worry, as the days go by and the heat turns up, #HipNJ won’t leave you out of the loop! Here’s a review of what went on over the past few days for our weekend recap.

Friday, June 24th

It’s that time of year again – the time for the Meadowlands State Fair to take over the parking lot surrounding MetLife Stadium, that is. Celebrating its 30th anniversary and running through July 10, the fair is yet to fall short of entertainment. Carnival rides, games and food is just half of what the fair has to offer. With a hypnosis show, a high dive exhibition, a petting zoo and even more, you’re sure to be entertained any time you go.

Country star Tyler Farr hit up the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville on Friday night for his tour in support of his sophomore album, Suffer in Peace, which debuted on the Billboard charts in the top 5. Opening and supporting acts included Jersey-born artists Derek Crider and American Road.

Jon Bon Jovi, a prominent Jersey native, followed Taylor Swift’s wedding crash with a surprise appearance of his own. Carol Cesario has been battling lung cancer and had always dreamt of meeting Jon Bon Jovi. It wasn’t until last month when Rosie Skripkunis, Cesario’s daughter, reached out to the singer on social media that the dream was able to become a reality. The family was invited to JBJ Soul Kitchen, Jon Bon Jovi’s restaurant in Toms River, for a free meal followed by his appearance. He gave Cesario an autographed guitar, a book and a kiss on the cheek.

The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City hosted two top-notch comedians Saturday night in a back-to-back show that called for twice the laughs! At 8:00, CBS’The King of Queens” star Kevin James took the stage. Jane Lynch, the star of “Glee” and NBC’sHollywood Game Night” immediately followed, going on stage at 9:00.

The Summer Olympics are quickly approaching and trial competitions for #Rio2016 are happening everywhere. It was a big weekend for gymnastics, one of the most popular Olympic sports, and #NJ residents were definitely to thank for that. Akashi Modi of Morganville was named an alternate to the men’s Olympic team on Saturday night, which is an accomplishment considering he was one of the youngest competitors throughout this season. The next night, Old Bridge’s Laurie Hernandez placed third in the nation at the senior national championships, earning her a spot at the Olympic trials. She is considered a huge contender for Rio.

Age is nothing but a number for the 70-year-old Dolly Parton. The country icon is knee-deep into her Pure and Simple Tour, which came to Holmdel and the PNC Bank Arts Center on Sunday night, and performed at the top of her game. With her repertoire of awards and honors, we should expect nothing less.

Honored to be in the presence of this #countrymusic legend tonight. I will always love you #DollyParton! ?? #PureandSimpleTour

The Copa America Centenario, an international men’s football/soccer tournament with a format similar to the FIFA World Cup, concluded at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Sunday night. In the final, Argentina went up against Chile, which was actually a rematch of the 2015 final. In what was virtually a repeat performance, Chile defeated Argentina based on penalty kicks in the match with a final score of 0-0.
