Children’s Book Author Jolie Della Valle

Meet the rising star of Wayne, NJ, children’s book author, Jolie Della Valle!

#HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino chatted with Jolie in none other than Long Shot Productions, LLC’s studio. Jolie is the proud author of an award winning children’s book, “Georgie and the Ants in the Pants.”

Writing an interactive children’s book is not what Jolie has always planned on doing. As an alumna of The Fashion Institute of Technology, she explains that her children’s clothing line actually led her to write the book.

“I have a children’s clothing line, and all of the outfits have ant prints on them and say “I have ants in my pants.” I want children to embrace the “ants in their pants,” which is their silliness and positive energy, so I wrote this book to drive that message home.”

Since the publication of the book, Jolie has been on tour in the Tri-state area visiting Preschools, Elementary Schools, and Libraries. She reads to the students, dances and sings with them, and performs interactive songs on her ukulele. Jolie recently visited schools in Mahwah, Wayne and Fairfield, NJ.

Mike and the Mad Dog Reunion at Radio City

Legendary sports talk radio hosts Mike Francesa and Chris Russo (aka “Mike and the Mad Dog“) recently teamed up for an all-star reunion at Radio City Music Hall to raise $1.1 million for the Garden of Dreams Foundation!

The Garden of Dreams Foundation works with The Madison Square Garden Company and MSG Networks Inc. to positively impact the lives of children who are facing challenges such as homelessness, extreme poverty, illness and foster care. With a mission like that, it’s no wonder why Mike and Chris (who were partners for 19 years on WFAN) chose to come back together for this special night!

New York/New Jersey’s biggest sports stars came out to support the cause, including four-time World Series champion manager, Joe Torre; two-time Super Bowl champion coach, Tom Coughlin; former New York Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy and many, many more! #HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino chatted with some of the A-list attendees on the hall-of-fame red carpet!

New York Giants star Victor Cruz, a Paterson native who grew up listening to “Mike and the Mad Dog”, was excited to see the team back together again. “They were just so honest, so real and so inspiring. You could relate to them. They were so ingrained in this culture.”

“They were the pioneers of talk radio,” explained New York Mets fan favorite manager, Bobby Valentine. “This phenomenon of talk radio let the fans be part of the discussion.”

Mike and Chris are on record saying that the New York Rangers Stanley Cup win was their favorite sports moment (which says a lot, considering all the successes this area has had!) The face of that historic victory, Mark Messier, was shocked by that nod. “It’s incredible, especially with all the great moments in the city and all that they have been a part of.”

Mike and Chris’ style was bold and brash, but their “tell-it-like-it-is” honesty was appreciated by former New York Giant and current FOX Sports anchor, David Diehl. “It was always unbelievable to hear their discussions. Not just because they were fun but they were educated.” But more importantly for David, “It’s great for me to be able to give back to The Garden of Dreams and all these people that have given us so much as athletes in this city.”

Will Mike and Chris’ “one night only” reunion turn into a more permanenat thing? Stay tuned!

TMZ’s Adam Glyn of Union

Meet the Toast of Union, New Jersey, TMZ’s Adam Glyn!

#HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino chatted with New Jersey’s newest star at his favorite hometown hotspot, the “legendary” Tiff’s Burger and Alehouse, over some of his menu favorites and beers!

Adam graduated from Union High School and is an alum of Kean University.  His college experience, however, wasn’t “typical.”

“I didn’t have the normal college life,” Adam explained. “Instead of partying, I would drive into the city and do stand up. I would work in the comedy clubs for stage time.”

Paying his dues paid off BIG TIME for Adam.  One night after a show, a rep from a then-little known website called TMZ offered Adam a two week contract.  He has now been with them for over six years!

TMZ has led to amazing opportunities for Adam. In addition to hob-knobbing with A-list celebs on a daily basis (which we learned all about in this bonus segment!), Adam has opened up for the best comics in the biz, including fellow #HipNJ native Artie Lange.

Recently, Adam added “game show host” to his illustrious resume. Monday-Friday at 5:30pm on My9, you can catch Adam on “South of Wilshire“.  Set in the Crenshaw District in Los Angeles, contestants watch videos shot in local restaurants, bars, churches, tattoo parlors, gyms, basketball courts and more, and have to guess which celebrity frequents there.

Needless to say, Adam has accomplished his main goal- to feel like he doesn’t work.  “I’m 31-years old and I feel like I’ve never had a job,” exclaimed Adam.  “It’s been great so far.”
