‘This Is Us’ Creator Dan Fogelman

Unless you have been in hibernation for the past six months, you have heard of the NBC hit, This Is Us.

This Is Us has viewers of all ages addicted. This “dramedy” focuses around the Pearson family throughout three different points of their lives. It pulls on your heartstrings like no other show on television. The show’s genius orchestrator is none other than New Jersey’s own, Dan Fogelman.

Fogelman hails from River Vale. He attended Pascack Valley High School in Hillsdale, and has been a screenwriter since 2003. He has executive produced every television show that he has been a part of, and is also a well-established movie writer. Some of  his biggest hits on the big screen have been Cars, Crazy, Stupid, Love, and The Guilt Trip. Fogelman’s television successes include GalavantGrandfathered, Pitch, and now, This Is Us.

Fogelman projects some of his New Jersey experiences onto the screen. The only adopted sibling of the Pearson family, Randall Pearson (played by Sterling K. Brown), lives in an unnamed area of the Garden State nicknamed. This area is nicknamed “McMansion,” as it is a wealthier northern area of Jersey that could very well resemble his hometown of River Vale.

Randall’s estranged father on the show is played by Paterson native Ron Cephas Jones. Jones graduated from JFK High School in Paterson, and later graduated from Ramapo College in Mahwah. Jones has also been featured in USA network’s Mr. Robot and Netflix’s Luke Cage.

Melania Trump wears the Ralph Lauren ensemble very well and beautifully at President Donald Trumps Inauguration on Friday. Her sophisticated look was a sky-blue tweed cashmere jacket, a mock turtle neck dress and matching gloves and pumps! The outfit chosen on this special day will set the tone to Melania’s style for the rest of her term as First Lady. Ralph Lauren has also designed many of Hillary Clinton’s pant suits.

Saturday, held the Women’s March in Washington D.C to make a statement.Their statements varied from women’s rights and to LGBTQ’s rights and many other reasons. The Women’s March wanted to stand up for their beliefs, but not all could attend Washington D.C.’s march. This lead to many ‘sister marches’ throughout the state. The six places in New Jersey, were Trenton, Asbury park, Mount Laurel, Pompton plains, Westfield and Wycoff. Thousands of men and women attended the marches in New Jersey, one of them being Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen’s wife in Asbury park.

Tariq Trotter of “The Roots” Explains Success on “The Tonight Show”

Front man of The Roots and New Jersey’s own Tariq Trotter sat down with Steve Adubato on “One-on-One” to discuss why The Roots is the ideal band for “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” as well as his nonprofit, GrassROOTS Community Foundation.

Trotter speaks about his daily gig with Jimmy Fallon. “It’s a blessing. It is a wonderful gift that allows us to interact with the artists that we have always idolized,” he states.

The Roots seems to be the perfect fit for “The Tonight Show.” “We occupy a very unique place in pop culture,” Trotter says. “We’ve always been recognized as the glue that holds together all these different worlds.”

What’s something about Jimmy Fallon that we may not know? “Jimmy is the nicest person in show business that I have interacted with.” Trotter has been in the business for some time, and says that Fallon has always come from a sincere place.

Trotter created GrassROOTS Community Foundation, a nonprofit to service communities in both New Jersey and Philadelphia to promote the health of women and girls.

The Roots transcend age and genre, and continue to do so every night on “The Tonight Show.” To learn more about them, head over to their website. To learn more about GrassROOTS Community Foundation, click here.
