Thanks for visit us !! 🤗❤️ #Repost @weekdayeats ・・・ The Fat Darrell is still as good as I remember when I first had it when I was 15. Chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and marinara. Happy to know @ruhungrynj still has a home at Rutgers University, even if it isn’t on 4 wheels anymore. . . . #weekdaysoff #weekdaysoffeats #eatstagram #eeeeeats #eaterny #eatnj #njeats #jerseyeats #foodstagram #foodism #sandwiches #hoagies #greasetrucks #ruhungry #rutgers #newbrunswick #explorenj #explorethyhood
1. Fat Darrell, RU Hungry, New Brunswick
RU Hungry is home to the famous fat sandwich, a concoction of a hoagie roll, finger food, and usually lettuce, tomato and french fries. Their best-seller is the Fat Darrell, topped with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, marinara sauce, and french fries. It is a must-stop if you are ever in the Rutgers area!
2. Brunchwich, The Committed Pig, Manasquan, Morristown & Summit
The Committed Pig is known for the Brunchwich, their modern-twist on brunch and sandwiches. This sandwich is a bacon, egg, and cheese on french toast. Sounds SO good! Check out any one of their three locations located around the state!
3. Deli Sandwich, Harold’s NY Deli, Edison
It’d be in your best interest to bring a few friends with you to this famous deli known for their gargantuan sandwiches. The meats you can choose from include corned beef, hot pastrami, roast beef, brisket, turkey, salami and more. The huge serving size almost guarantees you’ll be walking out with a hearty box of leftovers!
4. White House Special, White House Subs, Atlantic City
Located on Atlantic City’s Arctic Avenue, White House Subs has been one of the best sub shops in the Garden State for decades. Their signature sandwich is the White House Special which is a classic Italian sub topped with extra salami, provolone, ham, and capicola.
5. Cheesesteak, Donkey’s Place, Camden
“Hang your head in shame, Philadelphia, the best cheesesteak in the country is whipped up across the Delaware in Camden, New Jersey” (NY Post). Served on a poppy seed bun and often topped with hot peppers and onions, this cheesesteak is claimed to be arguably the best in the country. It was even featured on Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown!
Enjoy #NationalSandwichDay at any one of these fine NJ sandwich shops!
