Elizabeth Haines On Gender And Leadership

Elizabeth Haines, Professor of Psychology at William Paterson University, sat down with Steve Adubato on “One-on-One,” to discuss how gender impacts leadership style.

Does Haines believe that the way people lead is significantly different due to gender? “It’s power that predicts your behavior, not your gender,” Haines says.  “As powered people, we act in dominant, confident leadership.”

Instead, Haines says that it is the reactions of the subordinates that change. “Women have to be a lot nicer in order to be effective.”
