EXIT 82 CELEBRATING 10 YEARS

EXIT 82 THEATRE PRESENTS THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

Exit 82 Theatre Company opens the Exit 82 Studio Theater on Main Street in Toms River on July 6, 2018 with the company’s revival of the Tony Award winning musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. The space offers a unique, intimate theater experience for its viewers. It is also BYOB for patrons over the age of 21.

“Our hope is for the Exit 82 Studio Theater to become a staple of our community and give a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘community theater,'” says Founder and Executive Producer, Keely Davenport. “We want the Exit 82 Studio Theater to be a place for everyone in our community to not only be entertained but join us to be creative and feel accepted.”

The Drowsy Chaperone features one show-stopping song and dance number after another. In addition, it won five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score.Taking place in a New York apartment, a man takes us through his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on.

The New York Magazine hails it as “The Perfect Broadway Musical.” The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theater genre. Furthermore, “It takes you to another world and it gives you a tune to carry in your head.”

The Drowsy Chaperone runs every weekend in July. This includes Fridays and Saturdays at 8p.m. and Sundays at 2p.m. Tickets are general admission and are $25 for adults and $23 for seniors. Group rates and ADA seating are also available. The Exit 82 Studio Theater is located at 73 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Tickets on sale now at www.exit82theatre.com.

Hudson Yoga Project Announces Teacher Training Scholarship for Wellness Wednesday

The Hudson Yoga Project located in Hoboken is enthusiastic to inform #HipNJ of their first donated scholarship for the upcoming 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training for this weeks #WellnessWednesday. The scholarship is for the March 2018 session and is made possible by a $3500 donation from Jennifer Deare – a recent graduate from the 2017 Yoga Teacher Training Summer Intensive course.

Deare is a Hoboken resident and the Founder and CEO of D3 NYC, a Marketing Communications company. Deare’s motivation for her benevolent deed is her own positive experience within the Hudson Yoga Project community. She was moved by the dedication of her peers who scraped together the necessary tuition for the program. Ultimately, she wanted to help a potential student realize their dreams.

The Hudson Yoga Project was opened by business partners Patrick Franco and Curtis Berger who wanted to create a more genuine yoga community. Their belief is that the Asana practice, along with an intimate group of yogis, makes for a welcoming atmosphere. The mission is an attempt to reject the current climate of anger and protest – the most likely common denominator between people today.

The studio offers over 40 Vinyasa style classes per week ranging from beginner to advanced and including prenatal yoga classes. Novices will find that the studio is a friendly and supportive environment since all classes are light-hearted and inspirational by nature.

For more information about the upcoming 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and the Hudson Yoga Project in general, there will be an information session at the HYP studio lead by Patrick Franco on Sunday, February 11 at 6:15 p.m. You can apply for the HYP Jennifer Deare Teacher Training Scholarship by completing the application on their website.
