Tara Clark, founder of Modern Mom Probs, shared her social media journey with #HipNJ’s Maria Falzo.
Clark created the Modern Mom Probs Instagram account in 2017. Back then, the account was called “NYC Mom Probs.” Clark was living in Manhattan at the time, and she wanted to use the account to discuss parenting with other mothers.
“We have some different kind of problems than you experience in the suburbs,” Clark explained. “I created this account as sort of a way to lampoon living in the city and being a parent in the city, but also as a creative outlet for myself and a way to connect with other mothers.”
Clark changed the name of the account from “NYC Mom Probs” to “Modern Mom Probs” after moving back to New Jersey. Following the name change, her account gained a substantial number of followers. Modern Mom Probs currently has 610 thousand followers on Instagram, 18.7 thousand followers on Facebook, and 636 followers on Twitter.
Before creating Modern Mom Probs, Clark worked in social media at Nickelodeon.
Clark will be a panelist at Bloomingdale’s Mom Boss event. The event will take place at The Mall at Short Hills on May 6. Clark hopes to teach guests how to be effective and not worry too much about balance.
“Focus on effectiveness,” Clark said. “How can I be an effective mother today? How can I be an effective entrepreneur today? How can I be an effective spouse? Whatever you happen to be doing. And so, it’s more about effectiveness than hitting balance.”
Clark offers all kinds of advice in her new book, Modern Mom Probs: A Survival Guide for 21st Century Mothers. The blogs on her website also cover a variety of topics: kids, friends, relationships, food, etc.
