Welcome to the #HipNJ weekend recap for July 12-14! Take a look at how we enjoyed it!
It was a perfect weekend to go hiking! #HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino took a road trip with her husband to hike Buttermilk Falls in Layton. The area features a dazzling waterfall with a wooden stairway & interpretive displays, plus a trail for hiking & bird-watching.
After working up a 4-mile sweat, they ate at the legendary Walpack Inn. Established in 1949, this rustic country restaurant is known for its hearty selections and homemade seasonal fruit pies. Right now, Garden State blueberries and peaches are in season, so take the scenic drive up for a slice! Just watch out for Yogi Bear, who was Lisa’s other dinner companion.

Heading down south, was the Atlantic City Vegan Food festival, which resided at the Showboat for the entire weekend. The main event took place on Saturday along with the 5k run on the boardwalk.
Attendees got to visit all of the vendors inside the event hall, while playing a game of food bingo, which encouraged everyone to hit up all the food stations! Visitors got to enjoy live music, speakers, live podcasts and movie screenings.
The event had started the weekend off by hosting a vegan food truck festival on Friday, with dozens of mobile vendors. Other events included a vegan food & sports expo, an after party on Saturday night and a Sunday vegan brunch, which official concluded the festival!
Let us know any upcoming events we can visit for next week’s #HipNJ weekend recap!
