What to Expect of Your Body After Childbirth

What to Expect of Your Body After Childbirth

Knowing what to expect after childbirth is essential to ensure that you are not worried about any of the changes to your body and to reassure you that many of the problems that you will experience after giving birth are completely normal. If you are worried about what to expect of your body after childbirth, here are some of the top changes that you may notice.

Lowered Sex Drive
Many women experience changes to their vaginal area after childbirth, which can directly affect their sex drive. This can damage your relationship with your partner and leave you feeling dissatisfied. If your body has undergone vaginal changes that you are unhappy with, and if your sex drive has been reduced by vaginal itching or looseness, you should consider visiting a gynecologist. They may recommend perineal repair, which can help you to feel more confident in the bedroom.

Hair Loss
If you are used to having full and luscious hair, hair loss can be traumatic, especially if you thought that hair loss would only occur during pregnancy. Although hair loss will usually stop by the time your baby is six months old, to prevent this from impacting your happiness with your appearance, you should eat a fruit-and-veg heavy diet and take vitamin supplements. You should also care for your hair when you are drying and washing it by using gentle products.

Post-Partum Pain
One of the most challenging experiences that you may undergo after the birth of your child is excess pain, with common post-partum pain include back issues and afterbirth cramps. These can leave you feeling under-the-weather and disinterested in participating in your normal life. If you are experiencing pain, you should perform back stretches, use a hot compress, or book a massage to relieve this discomfort.

Excess Weight
Now that your baby is born, the person in the mirror may look slightly different than the one that used to stare back at you pre-baby. Excess weight can damage your confidence, particularly in the summer months, and you may feel as if it is impossible to lose. However, through a gentle regime of exercise, such as walking, and a carefully planned diet, you will be able to fit into your pre-baby clothing before long. However, if you are unable to return to your previous size, you should consider buying new clothes that flatter your post-partum body, and participate in activities that can make you feel good about your body, such as a spa day.

Tooth Decay
Tooth decay can be a significant problem for women that previously had perfect teeth. To prevent your teeth from making you feel self-conscious about your smile, you should brush your teeth twice a day, floss regularly, avoid sugary snacks, and opt for a salt rinse that can protect and care for your teeth.

Stretch Marks
If you are worried about the inevitable changes to your skin after pregnancy, such as the formation of stretch marks, many natural remedies can reduce the appearance of these. For instance, you should consider applying cocoa butter, aloe vera, and castor oil to the affected area.
